Computer won't work with new connection but will work with old connection

my computer seems to be a bit picky with Internet connections. The old router is still working and my computer allows all programs to use its connection. the new connection however doesn't get along with my web browser (google chrome) even trying to access features on steam (other than my game library) don't seem to be working

If it's connecting via WiFi, the wireless card in your computer may be too old to work with your new router. (802.11 G vs 802.11 N)

Well about updating. Here's the thing the machine I'm currently on had windows 8 on it. My brother , like a know it all idiot installed 7 home premium onto the computer without an activation code so now I'm running win 7 non genuine, so I can't update ANYTHING on this computer. I know dell has the drivers though. Will grabbing the update packages from them be able to help me?

I'd first see if you can find a valid activation code. If not, I would try going to Dell for the drivers. When you're installing them, there might be a popup that says something along the lines of "This is not a genuine Windows system. Do you wish to proceed?" Hit yes. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry.
