I'm no doctor by any means but I lived through some horrible sleep walking and at times attacking people in my sleep. I had PTSD from being attacked while sleeping in the military. Out of no where I would grab my wife's neck in a choke hold. Once I even somehow put her in an arm bar. I was terrified to go to sleep in fear of breaking something on her or even worse.( I can't tell you how horrible it feels to try to go to sleep knowing you have no control over what you may do)
The one night she screamed and I instantly stopped what I was doing. She said it's me and she told me to go to bed and I did. So my suggestion is talk to the person. Make sure they realize you are someone they love. Seek medical help if the situation is bad. Thank god after about 4 years I only have 1 or 2 nights of this and they are non violent.
They are in a state of mindless dribble drabble, and many have their inner animalistic instincts come to surface in the form of vicious, yet drowsy attacks. Also why spoil their fun? Perhaps they dream of distant wastelands filled with giant mutant geckos.
There is nothing bad in it, it's normal and it happens to people, only thing bad in it is that when you are sleep walking, you are out of your senses so you can also hurt yourself, like in the movie "the conjuring" :P
its bad because you can get injured by that person and the person thats sleep walking is not in there body they can control there act or self so watch out and never do that in less you dont care a bout getting hurt because most likely thats going to happen

Don't know exactly but I know sleep walking can happen because of PTSD which happens often from being in the military. One way for couples who are experiencing this trauma is to get in touch with Samaritan's Purse and get on a list for help and renewal and healing. See www.samaritanspurse.org. They treat many with PTSD or brain injuries, etc. through prayer and counseling, and being in a quiet out of the way place in Alaska that is close to nature, serene and blesses the couples and saves marriages this way.
There are two theories to this situation. The first one is, waking up a sleep walking person is very dangerous. One of the things that could happen is that person could get brain damage. Someone else or that person could get seriously hurt. The other theory is that danger while waking up a sleep walking person is a myth and the best thing to do is to calmly lead that person back to bed or follow them and make sure they don't get into trouble without knowing it.
