Do you think ECT (electric shock therapy) should be allowed?
I just saw some news where the FDA is doing some hearing to see if ECT should be given less restrictions. Basically, it looks like you'll be able to get it on an out-patient basis. I was a bit shocked (excuse the pun) to hear that ECT is still used as a treatment. How is it possible that running electricity through your brain, which results in all kinds of physical damage, be considered beneficial? Has anyone actually been cured of anything this way? Has anyone actually gained better mental abilities/powers this way? I've seen ECT videos and one must really hate his fellow man to do such a thing to him. I don't see how it is possible that ECT benefits anybody.
