1. Cost to employees is 120% higher than estimated. 2. 65 new taxes imposed. Everyone who buys a policy will be taxed $65 for those who don't. Plus those who don't buy a policy will get a tax penalty, and then have to buy the policy. 3. Businesses are dropping coverage right and left. They are cutting staff. They aren't hiring. We've seen the biggest expansion in part-time employment since the depression. 4. The people hate it. Obamacare can't get a 50% approval to save its skin. It's always a good idea to oppose an unpopular law.
Because Obamacare may not cost the employee, but it costs the employer. For example, at my job, they've already started practicing for obamacare... they are cutting my hours in half because if I work over twenty hours a week, then they will be required to provide me with health insurance. So really its not only the employers that are hurt, its also all the little people like me and you. I will now have to look for a second job to make up for the los hours, cuz no one is really gonna start giving me free healthcare.
They want to stop it for several reasons: The issue gives them something concrete to run on in the next election. It hasn't been implemented yet, so nobody really knows if it will work, or how. It will probably be very expensive (at least for insurance companies and large employers). It forces Americans to buy something (insurance) if they don't already have it. (That's fairly new and radical. A lot of voters don't like it.)
Ask any Doctor. They are quitting. We will have to wait hours to see a doctor if we can get one. They want to refuse many elderly people to have surgery... After all ... They are not useful anymore. Employers cannot afford to pay insurance so they cut the hours to part time to avoid it. Everyone will wind up in the emergency rooms & the government will have to pay it. Thats just the tip of it.
In my hometown - Boston - Republican Governor Romney created the Affordable Care Act for his State - and it worked. The President basically took the guts of the program and remapped it for the country. Because of the outright hatred Republicans have for Obama, they have re-branded the law as an Obama invention - which they can oppose - even though a Republican invented it (with a lot of help). In my opinion - parts of it need revision - many (usually large) companies will punish employees to sway the next election to pro-big business interests, which are integral to today's Republican Party (not the Party my father belonged to, despite having the same name).
