My son is 11 and he'll be having his bar mitzvah in 2 years. When should he start learning hebrew?
I started at 11. Some wait until 12 or 13. It's up to the parents and the aptitude of the student, as well as the Rabbi's rules (it's often taught by tutors who are not rabbis).
I would think he would have already begun that years ago...better late than never, NOW!
When he is interested in learning, as long as he still has a year to learn it.
He should've started a while ago in my opinion o.o start now!
When he was 6
Hebrew is not an easy language to learn and it will take more than 2 years to learn it fluently.
Oy vey, I hope it's not too late! Talk to people at your synagogue so they can guide you. If you are reform versus conservative, bar mitzvah training will be less vigorous.
Oy vey! My brothers bar mitzva is this weekend. I would say he should start going to Hebrew school NOW! He should start learning for the actual bar mitzva next year.
