Being Christian, is it a sin to watch movies and TV shows with violence, satanic, and paranormal activity type stuff?

No it is not a sin, but filling your mind with such thoughts and images makes it hard to feel the Holy Spirit in your life.

To better feel the spirits love and guidance in your life you are better off seeking after entertainment that promotes a positive and loving attitude.

The Devil will work his way to you through any small opportunity, but I don't think violence is one of the ways. If something satanic or paranormal plays a big role in the movie, my parents won't allow me to watch it because it's demonic. Even if it's a short scene in the movie, my parents will skip ahead.

No way. I'm a big God lover, and I love watching those kinds of movies. Just don't get involved with that kinds of stuff.

No. Just porn because it tends to produce "lustful" thoughts. According to Christian doctrine , lust is sinful. If you get a certain abnormal pleasure or masochistic thoughts in seeing certain behaviour on TV I don't think it is sinful, but you might have some issues.

I understand that watching porn alone is sinful because you are lusting for another, but is it still a sin if you watch it with your significant other and only them?

I don't know. I would imagine it is still a 'sinful" behaviour, (venial sin),; results are the same. I would imagine you're being provoked by the actions of others their lust, benfiting from some one elses sin, taking pleaure in it, and saying it's fine seems wrong to me. That's just opinion though..

I advise you to turn off the TV and spend time with the family. You will build a relationship rather than steep your brain in refuse.

How can you walk in fire and not get burn? How can you play in mud and not get dirty? Same with the things we watch on TV - after a while it is bound to have some sort of impact on our lives. We know Almighty God hates violence and abhor anything wicked - especially with the demons - his number 1 enemy - why would we - who love God - basically sleep with the enemy our Father hates. (Deut. 18:10-12)

Roman 12:9 - Let [YOUR] love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good. Even if you do not go out and actually commit such gruesome crimes - it will over a period of time desensitize you toward such behavior. Also, what kind of impact do you think it will have with your creator, Almighty God. We are told to love what he loves, and to hate what he hates; the Bible clearly give us all of the information we need in respects to what Almighty God hates and those things that he loves. And there is NO WAY - God sits at the table with his Arch-Enemy - Satan the Devil and his DEMONS. Would you want a friend who was trending on both sides of the fence with your friendship?

Just some food for thoughts!!!!!!

Except for the fact that television is entertainment. If you so desire to not be entertained, your choice. But watching something is not "sinful", "lustful", or whatever you may claim it to be.

I have said this before, and now I will say it to you.

Just as bad food pollutes the body and has harmful consequences, bad messages in media pollutes the soul. You should avoid the depiction of evil whenever possible. If the eye perceives and the ear hears such things, it has an effect on the soul.

You would do well to avoid such things.

Since, web sites, movies, TV programs, and music that have sadistic or demonic content or contain pornography or promote immoral practices portray such in a positive light it can make us believe that they are harmless or that we would never do them. But since they violate Bible principles or laws, they should be avoided by true Christians (Acts 15:28, 29; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Revelation 21:8).

By doing this, you prove to Jehovah God that you truly “abhor what is wicked” and consistently “turn away from what is bad.” That way, you have “faith without hypocrisy" (Romans 12:9; Psalm 34:14; 1 Timothy 1:5). However, if we find it entertaining to watch what Jehovah condemns, do we really “abhor what is wicked”? Repeatedly exposing ourselves to wicked conduct will dull our senses (Psalm 119:70; 1 Timothy 4:1, 2).

Its something a true Christian should stay away from. Because the bible condemns it. Galatians 5:19-21.. Puts it in very direct way. Please read it when you get a chance.
