Strength training question?

Im 15/male and the heaviest dumbbell I have is twenty pounds, every day I do two sets of 30 reps on each arm. My friend is telling me that twenty pounds is too easy for me and that I will lose muscle. He says that my reps should reach a maximum of 15 with heavier dumbbells if I want my arms to get bigger. Is he right?

Yes he is. If you can do 30 reps it's way too light. If you want to build muscle go heavier and you should barely be able to do 10-12 perfect form reps.

usually 3 sets of 12 work. dumbells aling won't make your muscles bigger. they'll get toned but not bigger
