I need help on this one so here goes. My family and I found ourselves in an awkward situation today at about 5:30pm, right in the middle

of the busiest time at the grocery store. We were in line to pay and the cashier stopped the transaction as I was about to pay and called her manager over. when he got there she proceeded to tell me that I had taking a cell phone that was left behind the other day by a previous customer. She carried on saying they had me on video and that the customer had comeback and filed a police report? We were shocked and embarrassed being confronted while we were in line with everybody around watching. I was so upset and flabbergasted for my family and myself that I shook my head in disgust and left smh. I just wanna know what I can or should do about this? Can I take legal action? This is a chain of grocery stores around town that I shopped at for bout 5 years now. I can't believe this, and my wife said she's so embarrassed that shes never going back.

if you're innocent, get an attorney. if you're guilty, get a better attorney...;-)

This is so unlike me, but my advice is, yes, contact an attorney. This was outrageous.

Go to the police .. and file a false accusation complaint/slander against THEM .. They will investigate this bogus charge and ask to see the so called video evidence. If it was NOT you .. THEY them selves could be in a whole heap of trouble.

Once you have the police report and conclusion that in fact this was a completely bogus accusation .. then .. sue the crap outta them for being so publicly humiliated.

Did you take the cell phone?

Go straight to management of the chair through on-line means expressing your disappointment of the lack of professionalism in the cashier. If the accusation is true (about the cell phone) then that is dealt separately but if not then either a simple apology is warranted if you accept or if you have the money they take it to court.

Its too early to call in the lawyers; This is yet to play out.
Presuming you're innocent, wait for the store's video to clear you. Allow management to apologize before doing something rash.
The cashier is a f'n drama queen -- her manager needs to deal with her.

well just be honest and tell your side of the story and clear up the misunderstanding and if they are still mad about it leave it at that and go shop somewhere else if you are prideful but if not just shop there anyway its unlike they can refuse service like in restaurants if its too troublesome to go to another shop for what you need
