My father retired last year, and he own a house. Is there any sort of discount or property tax that he can apply as a retiree? Please help.

Property (more specifically, real estate) taxes are the purview of states and localities. So the answer is, it depends on the laws in your father's area.

Tax questions really should be taken to a professional. At the very least, obtain all the documentation you can by going to the website of the locality.

I live in Mississippi and the rule is that when you turn 65, no more real estate taxes. You are considered exempt from those taxes, if you are not in arrears on previous years taxes that is.

As johnmhammer said, property taxes vary county by county and state by state. Where I live, your age makes no difference at all.
Since you did not say where you live, we can't help.

All you can do is contact your county tax office and ask them.
