When should you eat protein, before or after a workout?

Report as

Carbs before and load up on protein after. Protein builds up the muscle so as the muscle is healing it will add extra protein to the muscle making it bigger over time.

Doesn't matter, you just need to meet your daily requirement.
A certain amount of complex carbs is required before a workout based on your size, weight and age.
Here's a little article on the subject.

In general right before a work out you should not have much in your stomach. Ideally if you are doing a real hard work out you want to have eaten a reasonable amount of carbs several hours or more before. This will allow them to be digested where the sugars to into glycogen reserves. If your eating a normal diet then your body will have enough protein to build any muscles before or after the workout. All the advertising about high protein blah blah blah is a load of crapola. Don't waste your money. High weight Low reps 1 set slowly will make stronger muscles. Use weight where you get fatigue in 6-15 reps. Thats it. If you want to look like a muscle man then light weight high reps will build bigger muscles but they will not be as strong. Having food in the stomach digesting while working out is bad since your stomach will stop digesting while you are actively working out since the blood is rerouted to the muscles.

Eat Protein before (at least half an hour before you do a work out so you don't get stomach cramps. If you still get stomach cramps, eat earlier) your workout. Another tip is to have a spoon full of protein after every bite of food you take, it tricks your stomach into thinking you ate more and, there for, making a perfect diet!

Best wishes!

Carbs with a little protein 1 hr before workout. Right after workout within the hour is the most opportune time for protein. The muscles are starving for it, to heal and build the muscle. With a little carbs to fuel the body.

Yeah carbohydrates help fuel your required energy before the workout and the protein builds and heals the muscles. There are some good pre workout supplements too that can really help. And definitely make sure you eat as healthily as you can throughout the day or you will find you will have to do something for extra energy.

I'd say protein (like red meat) after so then your red blood cells can go along and patch up your tiny muscle brakes and work as a bandaid.

Eat some carbs before you workout and then take in lots of protein to turn the fat that is being burnt to be turned into muscle. also, it is also an amazing idea to eat protein first thing when you wake up, the same idea goes with that and all that combined with a good workout routine and a healthy diet will get you some muscle in no time!

Hope this helps!! :)
