How do you ask where someone is in French?

I'm writing a story and my characters are in France. One is witnessing a fire and someone is asking the police where her daughter is. Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure it'd be something like "Ou est ma fille?", except school was a looong time ago and my memory could be wrong, and there's an accent that goes on that ou somewhere.

Sweet :D Most of the French folks I know just laugh at by half forgotten school French. Apparently it's usually very different from what they actually use for day to day communications.

Thank you.

Rasted: You are right there as well. Proper and conversational are very different. What we learn in school is proper.

You could say, "avez-vous vu ma fille?". That means "have you seen my daughter?".
