car was to be fixed in 9 days but took 45 days, the repaired it wrong and would not admit. The next shop says they put it together wrong. Insurance co. than took 25 additional days to approve the mistake. Total days without car 90 plus and allstate would not give rental although i took it to their recommended shop

I was told once by an attorney that if a shop quotes a time line and exceeds that, and if the time is grossly exceeded then that shop can legally be responsible for the costs you've incurred if you had rented a car to cover that time you were without yours. They also said even if you hadn't rented a car you can still sue them for public transportation costs etc. as for the other damage causes by their negligence they would also be responsible.
