Why is the molecular weight measurements important for thermal depolymerization?

would it be helpful in calculating the number of petroleum hydrocarbons created?

Report as

The reason molecular weight measurement is important for thermal depolymerization is that it determines the heat required for plastic polymers to be recycled. Due to the high molecular weight of their large polymer chains, plastics have low entropy of mixing.
