Is it illegal for an employee to take your phone number off of your application and use it to hit on you

It may not be illegal but i'm sure it is against company policy and unethical. If they continue to call after you tell them not to I would think it's sexual harassment. I would save the calls or messages and report it to HR or your manager

Whether it is illegal for an employee to take your phone number from your application and use it to hit on you may depend on the context the number is used. If the number is not used in an illegal way, then there would be no problem. However, if you feel that the employee violates your rights, you may report the matter to the police.

It may not be illegal in the "criminal courts" sense, but I would hazard a guess that it is against corporate policy for using company-obtained information for personal gain.

It's not illegal, it's immoral... If the problem persists, you need to speak with whomever is in charge of handling employee issues... That's terrible...

go to human resources and make a complaint it will probably result in the person being terminated it won't stop them from calling you but at least you won't have to see them everyday

Personal information that has been provided to an employer is supposed to be protected and not divulged to outside sources under protection of privacy acts. But, if an employee inadvertently has access to your information and uses it for personal use to contact you is not illegal, as far as I know...however, company policy should be in place to prevent such a thing.

If you had an unlisted phone number, or a private unpublished cell number that was clearly obtained through your personal employment records .. You can speak to your manager/employer about the incident, and perhaps internal and appropriate consequences will be pending .. And then don't miss an opportunity to personally tell this person who is "hitting" on you that their behavior is inappropriate for the work place, an invasion of privacy .. And completely unappreciated. My guess is they will quickly lose that number.

Yes,it seems that it would fall under t he sexual harassment law.Be sure and check your companys handbook,before you decide to do anything.
