How is God real? I do not intense to offend anyone... humans were made by evolving and generations but why do we worship such myth/truth?

If you think he is real please explain why.

Report as

How can God not be real?? Look at the majesty of a horse, or the delicies of a butterfly. What about the human body? The brain? There is no possible way it just popped into existense!

We did not just pop into existence, We came from stardust. Our planet Was formed in the big bang and We are just lucky to be in the perfect position to our sun, a star (Which Will one day explode). We are not too close and not too far. And We evolved from sea creatures. Religion is a perfectly fine thing and im not being disrespectful to that, like you are to cold hard science. Science is proof.

Yes, all of that is so beautiful!! Science is an amazing thing! ;D

Science!

Does science create? Science explains some things but it doesn't have the answer to everything. Certainly not how we began. That single cell didn't just pop into existence on it's own.
Report as
No, it took billions of years.
Report as
Yes, science creates, and yes, that can happen.
The bible greatly contradicts many things that we know to be true today because of science. A long time ago people needed religion to explain what they couldn't understand. Now we have science for that. ^_^

This is why science is so amazing, and why it is so miraculous that we're here. SCIENCE ftw.

@lolo-wait, what? You agree with me. 0_o haha. It is by chance that we're here. It's a matter of cause and effect; everything has a complex history of how it evolved and came to be. I find that much more amazing and aw-inspiring than to think I am here by magic. Horses have a beautiful and complex conformation. They're my favorite animals. :) they have an interesting evolution, too.

The teeth and beaks, the claws and fangs, that tear and rend, fill me with horror. What can be more frightful than a world at war? Every leaf a battle-field -- every flower a Golgotha -- in every drop of water pursuit, capture and death. Under every piece of bark, life lying in wait for life. On every blade of grass, something that kills, -- something that suffers. Everywhere the strong living on the weak -- the superior on the inferior. Everywhere the weak, the insignificant, living on the strong -- the inferior on the superior -- the highest food for the lowest -- man sacrificed for the sake of microbes. Are these not included in DESIGN?

Murder universal. Everywhere pain, disease and death -- death that does not wait for bent forms and gray hairs, but clutches babes and happy youths. Death that takes the mother from her helpless, dimpled child -- death that fills the world with grief and tears. Are these less important than "a horse"?

It is amazing how these believers always remember their heaven, and yet never remembers hell!! Credulity cannot sink lower than this!

Lololoves: Leave E-V alone. You want to know what science creates?? LIFE, it can be created from chemicals in a lab under controlled conditions. Or how about the internet! Do you think we would have this if we let your people burn all our scientists as witches? I'm going to send you back in a time machine so your moron ancestors can burn you at the stake when you go to light a cigarette because they will see the lighter and think you are a witch.

Oh and Rich, do you think something like the internet could be created by chance? The human body is way more designed and perfect than a man-made computer. So you think it still all just happened by chance? What if i were to bring out a car and say it was created by a tornado that ran through a junk yard.
Would you believe me?

It didn't all happen by chance. It's called Natural Selection.

Science doesn't create. It's an observation. It has no power to create living things. A computer is not a living thing. And. No one answered, who do u kniw who can create something out of nothing?
Report as
It's not random whatsoever. It's all explainable with science.
Report as
Are you kidding me? Have you ever seen a cell divide? It's a science. There's a lot to it, it doesn't just burst into existence. We don't have the answer for the beginning of the universe yet, but we're well on our way. Many believe that all there was to start off with, was not matter, but a large ball of energy. And yes, energy can CREATE matter. That's how cells divide, that's how babies are formed, that's how humans grow... You need to take an astronomy and biology class.

God isn't real

People think that we need an answer for everything, so they made one up. The truth is, we don't know. Religion is a crutch.

Following Jesus (not religion) is what matters and it is not a crutch, far from it. Those who are true Christians are on the difficult road to eternal life. You are on the wide easy road that leads to destruction.
Report as
If you say, "we don't know", then, that's just it...."you don't know!" You are too young to make any final decisions.
Report as
Oh well thank you. I didn't know that serving you in the Air Force was a wide road to destruction...

Not all Christians are good or noble people. Not by a long shot.

Why is it that sooo many people "find God" when they are sick with a terminal illness? Because they need something to latch onto before they die, because they are scared. Sad, but true.

Report as
I guess so! I personally think it's more exciting to not have an answer... I want to keep learning and following science and see what scientist can discover in my lifetime. I don't need an answer right now. I just want to live my life without having to worship some mystical deity.
Report as
hell , interesting how this is the topic . I don't concern myself with it. but life is or should be the major concern. hell means nothing to me and should mean nothing to you as well as I know it doesn't . but can't escape the fact that many people's lives were made better by submitting to god and I can't find it In myself to deny this to them. if you do not believe in god fine but to say he does not exist is not for anyone to say as fact. I don't ridicule your choice and would find it more productive if you would give me the same consideration
Report as
That's perfectly fine, believe what you want. But understand that not everyone is going to agree with you. People are going to have their arguments against things that you say. I have to put up with people not agreeing with me as well. You're not the only one. That's life. I'm not ridiculing, I'm not saying that religious people are stupid. I just don't agree and I have evidence to support my case.
Report as
If you're saying many people lives were made better by submitting to God, let me remind you that isn't the case with everyone. There have been many wars from religion. Religious people shunning their own children for being gay or pregnant. People shunned from churches for getting divorced... even if their spouse was abusive.
Report as
It's their beliefs that change people for better or worse. Not the particular god that someone worships (who's existence is supported by nothing). Honestly, and this just my opinion, I don't care how personal someone takes a god or Santa or the Easter bunny. If it's ridiculous then I'm gonna call it what it is. Either way, someone will be offended no matter what. That's unavoidable. Even when I would try to please everyone someone still got offended. I gave up a while ago.
Report as
it's more about understanding and making life more bearable for anyone who may need it . to attack someone life affirming reason for being here is not productive but destructive and creates a firm wedge. facts that are not proven are theories . acceptance of differences is how research into ideas are considered . after all aren't we all just trying to find peace in our lives ? if I can do that for someone then god or not everybody profits
Report as
@Trustylepp I understand what you mean lol but you'll never bring people to realize the truth by insulting them. Not that I really care whether or not they accept the truth or not... but I'd love to live in a less religion-based world.
Report as
No one is attacking
Not either belief
Just two different beliefs -
Report as
It's not actually an "attack" to say one particular god isn't real. It's not like we're little kids and get offended when someone says our imaginary friend doesn't exist. That's my point though. No matter how harsh or lightly you put it, someone will take offense to something as simple as I don't believe in god or I'm muslim. Especially if we're discussing what's real an what's not or someone comes at you hopping to conver you, if someone claims there particular god is real and then gives no real reason why then you bet someone will say their god isn't real.
Report as
That's very true. Someone will always get offended... no matter how you say it. Because they don't want anyone to disillusion them.
Report as
Eve,
I agree. I don't actually care what people believe. Only when their beliefs start to effect others. I once saw a short video of a woman who said she really didn't know anything about politics but she voted for bush just because he's christian. Really? You voted for one of the worst american presidents ever solely because he's the same religion as you?!!! I can only imagine how many others are like that. Don't even get me started on creationists trying to poison public schools with bs creationism. I don't actually try to insult people but I don't really care if someone is offended by what I say. I'm sure there are people who have been offended even by you and you sound way nicer than me on here.
Report as
Lol oh I'm positive there have been! When I'm simply trying to defend science/fact that they're trying to disprove with their religion/mythology they act like I'm a terrible person and I've going to burn in hell... (which is just fine to me because it doesn't exist) I honestly can't believe that some schools have actually allowed them to teach creationism as a science and disregard evolution... that's the opposite of what our soldiers have fought for. I think the thing that bothers me the most is when they say that they will "pray for me" to find God... it's like a slap in the face to me.. I don't know why that peeves me so much but it does. If you want to help me, go volunteer at an animal shelter or hospital. That'll benefit me and others more than praying for me will!
Report as
oh I agree that shunning your own children because they may be gay is horrific and not a true representative of Christ or his teachings . and religion has created wars because of this thinking of having to defend their position on what they have interpreted as truth when it is anything but true. and the amount of religion that all claim Christian when there are so many differences among themselves can make a person hardened against any form of it . and the hypocrites who have hid in the church and push their burdens on others all did and does happen but it's not what Christ taught or stood for. his teachings were quite different I was amazed to read it for myself and found that people ( religious people) have made a mockery of it with heaps of burdens to keep you occupied doing works of who knows what thinking they know what god wants. truth is still truth and if you plant seeds of hate, hate will grow . many people are to lazy to seek for themselves what is real or true it's all on the words of some fine speaker. ah that's about all I got to say on that forest
Report as
What your God really wants? Have you read the entire bible? It talks about gays being abominations, not mixing fabrics, stoning your children to death for disobeying you, people "speaking in tongues" as babbling and it being the words of God.... unless you don't take the bible as the literal word of God. And then why read the bible? Why base the religion on it? People say that the bible says the most important thing is to love each other without judgement and then it repeatedly contradicts itself elsewhere. I have read the bible and I used to try to go to church... I explored many denominations and none of it makes any sense to me. Whatsoever.
Report as
It's extremely condescending when someone says "I"ll pray that you find [my] god" or "I feel sorry for you because you'r an atheist and not christian". It's as if they're telling you there's something wrong with you and you're sick and everything you're doing is wrong because you're not intoxicated in their religion. It's multiple little jabs like that that get really annoying. @Ger, I wish people wouldn't just play follow the leader and instead actually learn and comprehend things for themselves. Whether they end up agreeing with me or not, I wish they would at least do that.
Report as
One of the most incredibly contradicting moments in the bible in my opinion is the condoning of slavery. I have yet to hear at least one christian craft apologeticts for that.

God loves you and I dont know whats going on in your life, but God knows that you can handle it. And He's willing to help when you can't get through it. So before you hate against something find out what it's all about because the truth is something went wrong in your life and you called out to God... And supposedly He didn't answer. Am I correct? Or you have everything you need, and you see no reason to know how great God's love is.
Report as
LOL!!! Nope not all of us are brainwashed at birth. Some of us are given choices. Fear of death or lack of purpose to life has caused people from all different cultures to make up their own gods worshiping everything from the sun to multiple gods at once yet you each claim to know the true god. You believe in your god because your parents brought you up that way; not by any choice of your own no matter how much you claim otherwise. If you were brought up in India you would be Hindu. If you were brought up in the Middle East you would be Muslim. If you were told to choose your own religion and not forced into any of them like me you would see what a joke it all is. If god did exist all the world religions, their rules and pathetic explanation for creation would be a direct insult to his intelligence.

I have faith that He is real, just as you have faith that humans evolved from apes. The reason I have faith is because I want to. I want to believe that God so loved the world that He gave His Son to die for us so we can inherit eternal life. And my faith doesn't interfere with my love for science. I like hearing new theories and ideas and choosing for myself whether I want to believe in them or not. And when I learn about science and how things work, I love being able to give credit to God and realize all the more how amazing and powerful He is and how such a Being could even give consideration to humans, who, in my opinion, have only begun to scratch the surface of the true majesty of God's universe. If it weren't for my faith, I don't know where I'd be now..but I know that with my strong personality and the dark side of me that I don't tap into, I would be on a bad path toward destruction. I think faith in God (the right faith) can make people live better and fuller lives, not worrying about alcohol poisoning, STDs, throat cancer from chewing, the list goes on. Of course, there are Christians who may struggle with things like these, but if it weren't for their faith, they probably wouldn't try stopping or to be better. There are many reasons I have faith in God, but it boils down to that I simply choose to. Faith comes by hearing and reading, but also reading with a desire to learn more.

I've read many books and none of them disproved god or proved god was real, and man made holy wars has nothing to do with god, wars are started by men not gods, and most wars are fault over land and greed not religion, the question was about god not a particular religious belief you don't need to be religious to believe in god I don't belong to any church or temple but I do believe in god.
Report as
wars are being fault over "holy" land. No,. God said this land is ours!
No its ours look if you read our scripture and interpretation its ours!
No its ours and he said our faith should dominate the earth! Thats belief for you. look how many battles there are in the bible. The problem is people do equate god to a religious belief, its peoples "belief" in their type of religious Gid. So in a sense your right, its peoples beliefs, butmost people cannot separate themselves from their religious belief in God.
Report as
The bible is filled with instructions .. some even conflicting .. The one that causes the most controversy is actually a commandment..."Thow shalt not kill". ... But, then there are other scriptures that instruct us go to battle.

Wars have been fought most over land values .. not for the sake of defending religious belief. Our modern day wars have nothing to do with religion .. they are about who controls natural resources like oil (for instance).

There are only 10 commandments .. They are a list of rules that should be followed as a guide to keep the peace from that moment forward. It was not intended to have an expiry date, or only apply to certain periods of time ... Isn't it odd that out of all the instructions that God could have provided us, that this ONE commandment was important enough to be included. It says 'though shall not kill" .. It doesn't continue to say "Unless you have to".

Maybe this is only MY perception of what the Bible has to say .. so.. someone .. please educate me .. on exactly how the bible instructs us to enter in war killing innocent men, women and children not to mention the degredation to our planet .. and still be within the confines of the 10 commandments.
Report as
Bikergirl, I agree with you in most of your points. Of course the Bible doesn't command us to go into battle and kill innocent people..that's the antithesis of the whole ideal of the New Testament!! Those commands were given to the Israelites in a time when there was virtually no morality, people were barbarians..the world was extremely rough back then. We couldn't survive. The human race was still trying to figure out what's right and wrong, what to do for food, etc. and if God hasn't commanded the Israelites to go to war and be merciless, Judaism would have never survived, and Jesus would have never been born. His bloodline would have been destroyed. We wouldn't have been saved. People don't see to understand that these commands were given to them at that time..read the context!! So yes, I agree with you on that. However, where I don't agree is on the Ten Commandments. These were simply the only commandments that God have to Moses on Mount Sinai. I see them as introductory and basic commandments. After those, there were also many, many..hundreds..of commandments to the Jews laid out in Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Leviticus. And the Jews just kept adding more on their own, without God. That's one of the reasons Jesus came and died, was to get rid of that Old Testament, and bring in a New Testament..not one of laws, but of love. And if you love, the whole of the old laws were covered. You won't steel, you won't covet, you won't murder, etc. So the Ten Commandments do still hold as basics, but if you love, they're covered anyway. Isn't the commandment of love more positive than the "Thou shalt not"s? :)
Report as
@dotar ... You are absolutely right. The were many laws provided to us .. Not just as a method for God to "push his weight around" or be domineering .. They were rules to live by ... To instill balance and peace. NO ONE knows how we "work" as a life form better than He. In our very design, as in nature there is a need for balance.
Report as
That's right, and it's amazing how well the Bible exploits every aspect of the human mind. The Bible is evidence of God in itself. Not only because it says God is real, but its unity and truth prove its accuracy and reliability. God bless :)
Report as
You got that right .. too.

If only society would take the teachings and instructions seriously. Not just from the perspective of relgion and commitment to God, but from the a realistic perspective about how we think, react, stumble, faulter and regain our footing in life. The world would a better place.
Report as
IF only .. we could all try to be more honest, more humble, more ethical .. more decent...instead of tripping over ourselves trying to divide, conquer and establish our 'own' place in the world. Living in harmony with each other, with nature and our entire planet is the only way to survive this world we live in. It pains me to see how 'bent' we are on destroying the very substance of our being .. including our planet.
Report as
I couldn't agree with you more. But even though the world brings us down, it will be worth it in the end :)

Spirituality and religion have a lot of benefits in a society. They provide hope when disaster strikes .. they provide a moral compass. Problem is .. at least in MY opinion, the Church's throughout the ages have fought for domination and power much the same as previous Kings and more modern government officials ... and have used Gods word to manipulate and control. THAT does not falsify or diminish the intent of God's Word .. only proves how imperfect we really are as human beings.

People "choose" to believe .. they choose to believe because believing in 'something' is better than believing in nothing. It's a form of gaining strength when they are taunted and tempted to do all the wrong and destructive things .. they find an energy that can't be equalled in any other mechanism on earth. It's supposed to be a positive influence on us ... and we are supposed to use that positive influence to positively influence others.

I needed to wipe off the..ya know..and next thing I knew, I was in the ditch going about 55 mph!! Grass was flying above the windshield, the truck was shaking like a roller coaster, and suddenly, I was able to figure out how to get back on the road. I was never taught this or anything, it just came to me. I slammed on the break, cranked the wheel, and slammed on the gas, and we were back on the road. There was no way I did this consciously or even had time to think about what to do, but I did. On top of this, the next week or something, I looked at where I went into the ditch, and I knew right away that I definitely should have rolled the truck right into some trees because of the slant of the hill. I shouldn't be alive, but I finally figured out a couple months ago and am now learning again why I am still alive. Thank you for your encouraging answer and God bless!!!!

Evolution doesn't discuss the origin of life , therefore there is no relation between the existence of God and evolution .The fine tuned universe , cosmological constant & irreducible complexity point to a Creator .

It should be more than obvious that God is real because he created all things good in the beginning. The evil in this world is caused by sin and people co-operating with the devil (usually without knowing it's the devil). But once you have accepted that God created the heavens and the earth you can move on from there and accept Jesus into your heart and be born again, and filled with the Holy Spirit. If you will do that, you will easily see that Jesus is absolutely real and full of love and that the Bible has been inspired. God bless you.

How could we possibly have evolved? The human body is way too complex to have been made from scratch via evolution. Brains, stomachs, appendixes, ears, how in the world would we have known we were gonna need these things? Also, if humans evolved from monkeys, why do monkeys still exist? Wouldn't monkeys just be people too? No, monkeys are very similar to humans, but humans, did NOT evolve from them. Seriously, why would we want LESS body hair? Why would we want to be cold? It's just stupid to think we could POSSIBLY have done this on our own.

As lololoves said, look at nature and the human body! How can someone dismiss that as chance? Even so, people choose to believe evolution took it's course and formed things by chance. To me, there just had to be a great designer in all this.
Also, many of the prophesies in the bible have come true.
Now there is no way to prove God, yet there is also no way to disprove him.
People have different opinions and i respect that. But i hope you believe and are saved ;)

It didn't happen by chance - it's a result of billions of years of evolution. Has absolutely nothing to do with chance. Even then, that's only evidence that fairies or unicorns or Zeus created this universe, not some christian god.
There are even more prophecies that never came true or were proven to be false.
Report as
Billions of years? That's hard to believe.
Report as
No, it's hard to believe that the earth is as young as a few thousand years old when all the evidence points to a much older world and universe. In fact, it's impossible for me to believe that. Virtually all scientists are at a consensus on this one - this is not a subject up for debate.
Take note anyone who is reading this that Jorgenson couldn't refute my logic regarding Zeus and fairies..

Proof would be talking in tongues and other miraculous events. There's the proof for every one to see. And I really don't understand how u guys can look at the world and see all the love, joy, excitement, hate, and sin in the world and then claim that we're just a bunch of soul-less animals walking around on some planet. There's a reason why we rule over the animals, God made us in His image. We didn't evolve from apes. But anyways you have to have faith first and then God will come into your heart, only then will you understand because you will feel the change. I hope some day you try to have some faith and then you'll see.

so god made social classes, rather than everyone being equal? What a dick. Now I may be wrong about this, but if we were all made in his image, wouldn't we all look the same?
Report as
Humans made social classes by bringing sin into the world when they disobeyed God. God didn't make robots He gave us free will. And every one is created equal.... And no because God designed each one of us in our mothers wombs to be special and unique, and He loves every one of us, including you. And he wants you to realize that and come to Him so that you can be saved and go to live in Heaven with Him.

If there is going to be this huge playoff game, the final Championship, there are two teams and everyone is told who is going to win the championship way beforehand, before teams are even created, which team should be the most obvious and intelligent one to join? The the one everyone is told will beyond doubt win right? Youd think so. Yet so many believe the lies of the captain of the losing team and join it instead. Foolishness. Gods team is very real and it will win ultimately and the prize is the place we call heaven. The other team will go to a very bad place.

That is a good question. God is real.
Heb. 9:24: “Christ entered . . . into heaven itself, now to appear before the person of God for us.” John 4:24: “God is a Spirit.” John 7:28: “He that sent me is real,” said Jesus.
1 Cor. 15:44: “If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual one.” There are sound reasons for believing in God. Ps. 19:1: “The heavens are declaring the glory of God; and of the work of his hands the expanse is telling.” Ps. 104:24: “How many your works are, O Jehovah! All of them in wisdom you have made. The earth is full of your productions.”
Rom. 1:20: “His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made.”

New Scientist magazine said: “The lay view persists—of scientists having ‘disproved’ religion. It is a view that commonly expects scientists to be nonbelievers; that Darwin put the last nails in God’s coffin; and that a succession of scientific and technological innovations since have ruled out the possibility of any resurrection. It is a view that is wildly wrong.”—May 26, 1977, p. 478. A member of the French Academy of Sciences stated: “Natural order was not invented by the human mind or set up by certain perceptive powers. . . . The existence of order presupposes the existence of organizing intelligence. Such intelligence can be none other than God’s.”—Dieu existe? Oui (Paris, 1979), Christian Chabanis, quoting Pierre-Paul Grassé, p. 94. Scientists have identified over 100 chemical elements. Their atomic structure displays an intricate mathematical interrelationship of the elements. The periodic table points to obvious design. Such amazing design could not possibly be accidental, a product of chance.Think: When we see a camera, a radio, or a computer, we readily acknowledge that it must have been produced by an intelligent designer. Would it be reasonable, then, to say that far more complex things—the eye, the ear, and the human brain—did not originate with an intelligent Designer?
Report as
There is also some more research that I have found that may be helpful:
The origin of the raw material of which the universe is made
Scientists have learned that matter is a concentrated form of energy. This is demonstrated with the explosion of nuclear weapons. Astrophysicist Josip Kleczek states: “Most and possibly all elementary particles may be created by materialization of energy.”—The Universe (Boston, 1976), Vol. 11, p. 17.From where could such energy come? After asking, “Who has created these things [the stars and planets]?”, the Bible states regarding Jehovah God, “Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one of them is missing.” (Isa. 40:26) So God himself is the Source of all the “dynamic energy” that was needed to create the universe.

Honestly if you take Christianity and compare it to Evolution, logically they both seem kinda equal in their creations. God is a very touchy subject because there are a few aspects that we simply can't explain. But then that's what faith is, right? Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing. All we knows is that God has always been, which seems impossible simply because that is a concept that is far too great for us to fully grasp. But with evolution what started the Big Bang if there was nothing? People say there were gases? Where did they come from? Where did that source come from? What spawned the source that made the gasses? What created the thing that spawned the source that made the gasses that caused the Big Bang? Just dig into everything and you'll find your answer.
