We have seen plenty of changes in the pattern of taming the kids and students. I can just say when I was an student of class 5th, our teacher taught one quote "SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD. Today we see it most fitting but this has been termed as "CHILD ABUSE".
Swearing? People can say whatever they want. There's no such thing as a "bad" word. As for lying, punishment depends on how severe of a lie is told. Even then, never smack someone with a paddle. Grounding them is better.

I got whipped with a fly swatter as old as 17 and deserved every one of them. I was very rebellious and smart-mouthed. After the whipping, I was also grounded. I don't like the paddles unless given on a butt cheek, because they aren't flexible. I got the paddle from principle and nuns. I whipped my son with fly swatter as old as 15 but not often. We've both been successful in life and have no mental problems and are very close.
no you shouldn't have to spank a child after the age of 4 years old if you spank at all. by the time they become teenagers if discipline is required you take away something they like doing like their video games or motorcycle or something for a short period if time
I think not. That's abuse. Take away his/her phone or computer or something. Never hit your child. It'll make them strongly dislike/hate you. BTW every single teenager cusses and tells lies. It's a fact of life
I think a teenager would be a little too old for spankings they should definitely be punished. Regardless if "every teen cusses and lies", it's still disrespectful. Especially if they are doing such towards their elders.
Would I personally spank a teen with a paddle? No, a paddle wouldn't be used, there would be much yelling, groundings, loss of privileges and if they still wanted to mouth off then a trip to the dentist might be needed later.
Spanking your teen, does not help them to understand why they should not lie and why it is best to tell the truth. You need to find out why your teen lied and talk to them about it. Usually people lie to protect themselves, to control, to avoid punishment or to gain something. Find out which reason your teen lied , then you can work with your teen on what would be a better solution. Please do not hit your child, it only teaches them to hide things from you and does not help them learn alternative solutions, to their lying. Take care
not if you expect to have a good relationship with them because humiliation does not make people close. teenagers like to feel that they are more like adults than children, the punishments need to change when they turn 13, to ones that are more age appropriate, yet still impact them with a learning lesson.
Spank a teen? Honestly that's one of the best ways to get punished as a teen. Man I wish I was spanked during those years! BOOM done! No. Take away privileges. Xbox, laptop, free time. My mother once stripped everything out of my room say for the bare mattress a thin sheet and my clothes. I straightened up REAL quick. If this kid is a teen you've missed the time of physical punishment. Kids avoid pain, teens avoid lack of freedom. I sound terrible but it is fact. The most effective way to punish a teen is to take away freedoms. (I am 18years old and my mama raised me gooooooood)
