How can I make a small recording studio cheaply?

I currently have a First Act USB microphone and a laptop. I have a software that I use now but the new mic I bought doesnt work for it. I feel like a sound mixer would be beneficial. The music I record is mostly just remixes of instrumentals I find so I do not need anything such as an instrument. Can someone help me out with what I would need?

You can make your small recording studio in a cheap way by recording over your already mixed instrumentals. You could record your singing over your recorded mixed instrumentals in carefully chosen intervals so that your music blends as well as possible with your chosen musicals. Since your new mic is not working, you can record using just your voice without the mic as a way of strengthening your vocal cords.
