Not proven... but in any case, it's not the "coffee" but the "caffeine" that would be responsible for this, and if true, the average height of US teenagers would be about 2'6" since there is more caffeine in sodas, energy drinks, and other things that teens consume in bulk.
caffeine can and usually will deter proper growth of internal organs if a person starts to drink(assuming they're getting it through beverages) it consistently at too young an age. No height deterrence though!
Coffee has been studied for many years and to date there is no scientific evidence that coffee stunts growth. As for shrinking breasts, I have seen one small study from Lund Univ. in Sweden that suggests that there is a gene mutation that affects coffee drinkers and may make their breasts shrink a little.

I once asked this very question to a doctor who was researching growth hormone deficiency. Her answer was that coffee does not directly stunt growth. However, most growth hormone is released while a child sleeps; so if the coffee is preventing the child from getting enough sleep, growth may be affected.
NO ! but because of its caffeine and complicated taste it is not always a good choice for kids. Coffee is a wonderful antioxidant and has been linked as a cure for some types of cancer. it has a long and amazing history and is worth study. wars have been fought over its value. the caffeine is slightly more than a Pepsi or a coke and much better for you than any diet soda with aspartame [a poisonous sweetener] if you prefer decaf make sure that you use a coffee that was made with the water method.
it can be prepared dozens of ways and is naturally a sweet drink when made with fresh berries . great iced or hot with milk or light cream .... or chocolate ! . It is an acquired taste though , so give it several tries . it is best when you grind it fresh at home per pot.
Dont forget to try it espresso or Italian cappuccino .....LOVE IT !
I wouldn't be over 6 foot if that were true. I hear statements about coffee every so often, last being it caused pancreatic cancer which I'd be dead along with three generations of family if it were true. And nothing was supplied to even suggest it had any validity to this statement in a local magazine.

Worked 8 hrs, college eves 8 yrs. food is fuel. Put some in your tank. Herbal Teas are fun to try. Black Tea (caffeine) helps neutralize sugar increases mental ability with continued use. Use in moderation. Try herbal teas. Put fresh orange rind in a cup, add a tea bag, hot water and steep a few minutes. Home grown Italian mint (spreads tremendously plant with concrete borders pull out by roots each year) makes a wonderful throat soother. Try candy cane or raspberry extract Cook Spinach or Zucchini, eat, then drink juice, cover reheat the next morning more vitamins than coffee. We just want something warm don't we?
My mother used to put coffee in my baby bottles (50/50 mix coffee and milk). I know this was stupid and poor judgement and I would never do it, but she did it. We also drank coffee all of my childhood and teenage years. I am now a 5'10" woman and I grew up in a time when it was highly unusual for a woman to be more than 5'7" or 5'8"
