What is the best way of unhooking a fish of most sizes?

Report as

Just hold the fish so the spikes and fins are down and and pull the hook out. If it swallows it, you may have to cut the line or use pliers.

If it's a crankbait on a bass the need nose pliers but if big treble hook or circle hook on a catfish, use vice grips

Well first you have to get its mouth to stay open. Usually putting you index finger and thumb in the fish's gills will keep its mouth open without hurting the fish. Also what i do when i go fishing is clip off the tiny barb at the end of the hook, makes for an easy release.

Just ask someone who fishes to go fishing with you and have them show you. A Picture is worth a thousand words, but life experience is worth even more.

Twist the fish so that the hook can exit the same direction it came in. Don't worry if it's a throw back. The wound will heal in less than 2 hours.
