Will we ever have flying cars?

just saying it would be freakin sweet if we had them in our lifetime :)

Report as

For regular people like us, probably not. Think of it this way. There is the "air bus." This is the huge plane that had a mishap with one of it's engines recently.

As far as "The Jetsons," unfortunately, I don't think so.
It is a fun thought though!

What about the jetpack they had???
Report as
they have water jet packs but those are $500,000 ouch
Report as
Yes indeed, but Tony, they would be parking and driving themselves, not a car.A small techinical errrrorrrr on the design :)

XTox, exactly! Imagine how much they would cost in the future of 2013. The way the dollar is diminishing, it could be 1,100, 0000. Who will be able to afford that? :)

Not likely, unless they are all self flying... When was the last time you drove, say in a city? Would you want any of those people flying around you at 10,000 ft? without even a traffic light to "suggest" that they stop and wait for someone else?

I've yet to see that episode; but, good you have. Was that the rich guy who also went to the outskirts of the hemosphere and dove back in? Or was that the other rich guy who built his own rocket ?

Well, when you use the word "ever", yeah, at some point, but probably not in our lifetimes. The terrorists use carbombs, can you imagine FLYING carbombs???

Well, I've got a feeling you are pretty good at parking your 737. In flight or on the ground, you would be sure your lovely wife and children were safe and sound. Still, that is a scary thought. You know, don't forget Astro! Happy! Happy!

I hope not. It's bad enough with careless drivers coming from four directions; I hate to think of throwing up and down into the mix. Even if the overhead car crash doesn't involve you, there will be debris raining down. No thank you.

Yeah, it's cool .. one at a time. But imagine dozens of them (and more) whizzing overhead and some of them driven/flown by people with cell phones clapped to their head.

We have already flying cars and its mass production will start by 2018. It has already tested and proven perfect. A person having valid commercial / plain pilot licence can purchase the car. For link please see:

They already exist and are on sale. They are just not very practical so no one buys them. You have to have a pilot's license to fly anything in the sky, which takes a lot of work to get.

they do exist now. and its not that far away either. lots of aeronautic companies have spent mucho dollars on R and D on vessels engineered for individuals. It'll start of with CEOs and celebrities will have them at first and then like the car soon more common people will be able to buy them.
think of this: no one ever believed everyone in America would own a car either, except for henry ford. the Wright brothers were threatened with the lunacy bin at the mere suggestion that man could fly. a century later air travel is a billion dollar industry. an added component is the technology that is moving at the speed of light. Flash Gordon's technology is obsolete today. I believe in another decade this is not going to be the remote future .

Well there are already few flying cars. But not the way you imagine them. I have seen on the internet a car that turns into a helicopter and you still can drive it as a car. So it is practically a flying car, it is just not look as much as a car that we are familiar with, because they make them with aerodynamic structure.

A car is a land vehicle, if it were to fly it would no longer be a car. so NO.

I am currently developing a 4-seater vertical take off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that will have autopilot from start to landing. It will also be able to drive at common roads (It´s harder to make autopilot for roads) And it will look awesome. In five years it could be ready for consumers.

At first these will be booked and arrive to your location as a taxi (but cheaper) hows that sound?

Helpful (1) Fun Thanks for voting Comments (2)

Awesome :) taxi!!

according to early calculations the fee would be $ 16 for 10 km with a discount for longer distances 100 km for approx $100. The fee could be split between up to four passengers. Compare that to other transportations. And keep in mind that you will arrive at the precise location. no need to take a bus from train station or an airport that would ad another 30 mins to your travel time.
