What are some techniques to help me stop drinking soda?

I play lots of sports and stay hydrated by drinking water during the games but when I get home it gets really hard for me to keep a coke out of my hands:p I need help on how to get me to not drink soda anymore!!

Stop buying pop. If you need to, have someone go shopping with you and keep you away from that specific aisle, and if there's something you NEED from there, have them go and get it so that you're not tempted to grab a case of Coke.

Keep the soda out of the house. If it isn't there you can't drink it.

you could try flavored sparkling water. or you could also try one of the many natural carbonated beverages sweetened with stevia and which have zero calories. They're quite good and don't seem to have any negative effects. you can get them at health food stores. Another thing to do is keep water with you at all times, preferably in a bottle with a straw so you'll drink more. It's honestly the only thing that will actually keep you hydrated, and then you won't feel the need to drink soda.

Emergen-C powders are good.
They fizz.
And so does Air-borne.

I don"t have a technique but don"t replace it with any thing sweet is what I have heard even diets because you body is still saying give me sweets. Try a vitamin supplement called chromium it will help. hopefully I spelled that right?

Drink more water. If you want flavor, then add crystal light to your water. Or start drinking ice cold tea. Then there's kool-aid and orange or apple juice. Also, banned sodas from your home. There's also punch.

throw it all away.....or put hot sauce in it before you drink it then ask yourself if you really want it now.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The "carbonation" itself isn't the evil of soda...it is the SUGAR & "acids" found in soda that contaminate our bodies & destroy the enamel on our teeth! Forensic officials actually use cola soda to clean blood from the pavement! The acids in soda break the blood down. HUM....that's some strong ACID!!!
If you are just addicted to the carbonation...may I suggest that you invest in a SodaStream machine ($49.00-119.00). It will allow you to "carbonate" your WATER, as well as carbonate "naturally" infused water. I usually add "fresh" citrus fruit to my water, a little Agave (naturally sweeter from the agave plant, low glycemic)...then I CARBONATE it! I use pure water or bottled water. I like to chill several bottles of beverage at a time...that way I'll always have a refreshing drink handy.
GOOD BYE to old "sweet syrupy" regular "and" diet SODAS!

like any addiction, you really have to want to stop, or any fad or helper is just that. I did find that if you tell yourself 10 bad things before you drink it and 10 good things for having the strength to forgo it ,each and every time might help. I tried it on smoking and for me it worked. good luck

You need to try and de- sweeten your sweet tooth... Try slicing lemons and ginger, and putting them into soak with water... Sweeten with honey if required, or stevia sweetner.. If you are truly mising the fizz, then add half and half with carbonated or tonic water...

I'm pretty sure this is mostly a joke but since my family buys one separate coke for everyone to last 1 week and i usually drink mine in a day my mom used to put a lot of lime juice in my cup everytime i drank more than 1 or 2 cups a day lol jk just try some water flavoring i have this orange crush kind that tastes like soda but is no sugar or cal.

Soda has a ph of 2.5 which is the same as stomach acid which means if you thinks about you are drinking your own vomit every time you drink soda

You should stop drinking soda if you don't want to be increasing pound or having diabetes. It won't be easy getting healthy again. Try to drink water instead after doing sport.

Tell people that you know that you quit drinking soda. When you get the desire to drink soda those same people can hold you accountable as an accountability partner for you not to drink soda.
Idea... Most restaurants serve soda with combo meals. Ask for water instead. It's also cheaper.
Idea... Don't throw away that plastic 32 oz. Gatorade container. Fill it with water and keep it in your refrigerator

If you LOVE soda I don't think one a week or one every two weeks will kill you. I'm not an advocate of artificial sugar. I've never heard of sugar giving you cancer. Most foods are okay in moderation. If it's the fizz you are after, try club soda and half coke or half club soda and cherry juice/grape, orange or cranberry juice. My mother never bought soft drinks so I didn't buy them, except holidays or birthdays, for my daughter, so she doesn't drink Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc., very often. Ive probably had two Coke this whole year. If you are after the caffeine buzz, try iced coffee with cream and sugar. And the thing I look forward to in the afternoon is sweet southern-style sweet tea with lots of lemon. All is delish! But as I said, moderation in everything. I am 5'8 and weigh 137lbs and I do not drink sodas. I eat pretty darn healthy and haven't gained weight since high school! They are very expensive and provide little nutritional value but they do work on the pleasure center of the brain so like I said....have one here and there but substitute the club soda as suggested. Good drinking!!!!! Enjoy yourself. Life is short. LOL
