Well, since you're already want something on the east coast, and although I just gave the same answer to another question -- Block Island, RI. One of my favorite places. Quiet & not very "touristy" there. For something really autumn-like -- how about spending a weekend at an inn/bed & breakfast in the Berkshires (in MA), or an inn/bed & breakfast somewhere in Vermont's Green Mountains? (My aunt & uncle owned a huge inn in Granville, NY -- right on the VT border. IF they were still there, I'd give you the address -- gorgeous!) Or, perhaps you'd like Maine, the rocky coastline is very pretty. Nothing compares to the fall in New England... beautiful fall foliage & great weather, comfy temperatures. Try going apple-picking, get some true VT maple syrup, find some giant pumpkins & most importantly -- have a great time! :)
Southern California for endless summer, new flights from around the country, and an abundance of travel discounts. From Los Angeles south to San Diego, there are plenty of offers that make a Golden State visit a true bargain this fall.
If you are planning to go to Canada, I would suggest Algonquin provincial park, Ontario. We can engage in various adventure activities such as hiking, canoeing, rock climbing etc. apart from fishing and watching exotic wild life and abundant plant life. You can stay inside the park and Algonquin lakeside inn called Killarney lodge provides excellent facilities while staying there. You can visit http://www.killarneylodge.com/algonquin-park/ for getting more information about this park.
