Usually it is just mind over matter. Now, sometimes habbits are another form of tic disorder. Tic Disorder causes compulsions to use certain motor functions. Such as, stretch out a finger, single blink, straighten an arm, pick your nose. These are all volentary but it causes extreme discomfort to not do them. Considering 25% of america has tic disorder, its not really a bad thing. In this case you basically have to find a healthier habbit.
Habits are evil creatures that live inside of you first you must draw them out deprive them of their happiness then when they go crazy and escape from your body you take out the butcher knife and stab them viciously screaming "FOR NARNIA" then lay down try not to cry cry a lot
say if its gambling. if you feel the need to buy every ticket because you developed that what if feeling. look at the probability of you winning. now just play the ones that you have a chance to win but reduce the ticket amounts each time or never by more.
it takes time but just think about what you do have now before u risk losing it all because you want more
You must become aware of your habits. What is this habit exactly? How is this bad habit or group of bad habits affecting you? How is this habit affecting others? For example, smoking often has negative effects on others as well as on you.
First, recognise you have something you want to change. Then record the number of times you exhibit the behavior everyday for a week. Continue to keep track as you focus on reducing the number of occurences until after a period of time you can eliminate it from your life. I have found that this works very well with habits such as smoking. And, I was able to eliminate a tell-tale accent that I had as a result of growing up in a rural area where everyone spoke the same way. Good luck!!!

Where I live there is something called Stoptober. This is mainly for smokers, however, it can also be good for other bad habits. All you need to do is try and not do your bad habit (maybe by replacing it) for the month and you would stop your bad habit completely. (Hopefully) :)
there are three things that help me break any type of habit. One is try to stop the habit for a week or so. Two is listen to a song that "Breaking the Habit" by Linicin Park. And three ask someone to help you do it. If this don't work then go ask someone who had a habit and ask them what to do.
