Science fair ideas.
Im in 8th grade but I want a science fair idea more like 10th grade I want it on Circuits i just can think of anything.

K, "ASAP" isn't going to get answers any faster.

What do you want to display about circuits? Do you want to build a robot? Do you want to demonstrate the theories behind circuits and electricity? Do you want to show the conversion from one form of energy to another?

My first thought is demonstrating hydro power. So you can set up a little pump station and "waterfall." The water turns a wheel, which is part of an electromagnet so it generates electricity that lights a bulb.

I like your idea with the hydro power but what are the variables, in other words what does it test.

You could test the efficiency of hydro power. For example hook the pump up to a meter to observe the amount of electricity it draws, then hook the little hydro station up to another meter to show how much electricity it generates. Theoretically, in an "ideal circuit" the hydro station would generate the same amount of energy that the pump uses. There are some losses in the transfer of the mechanical energy (falling water to turning wheel) and in the conversion from mechanical to electrical energy, which is something you could discuss. There are also several other ways to harvest the energy (like turbines) but a water wheel would be the easiest to create.

To clarify, obviously a river wouldn't require a pump station. But the amount of electricity the pump station uses would be the "potential energy" the waterfall has available. It's a way to say "THIS is how much energy the water has in it" so you have something to compare to.

Thanks so much
