I think firstly you should have the patience and determination to get in shape.Then you can choose any kinds of exercise,diet etc.You can consult with a doctor too.
Walk! The easiest way is to start walking. Then you can increase it to jogging etc. and join a gym if you can and FIND a training buddy to work out with you and keep you both motivated
