I feel like stopping school for a year

Ugh. i don't know if this is just a phase of depression or whatever but I've been feeling a lot stressed about school lately. like after a week of school, i felt like i was tired of it and i wanted to stop for a year to make me feel happy for myself. i won't be lying in bed all day tho, i'm going to work and just make something out of it while i still don't want to go to school. help! is this the way to go if i'm feeling down like this? :ll oh and fyi, this isn't about friends or being lazy. i also feel like crying when i wake up to go to school, but my mom still doesn't know.

If you're still in high school you can't take a break, and it wouldn't be a wise thing to do. Instead, get the help you need emotionally. You may just be going through a phase.

Perhaps, you are suffering from some kind of stress or you are bored of going to school because something does not excite you there. It could also be that something is disturbing you. You need to talk to a school counselor or a friend so that he or she can help you overcome what you are going through.

I too suffer from crippling depression. You can break free by living well. Try to share how u feel w ur parents... both my kids now aged 23 and 21 dropped out and I feel like its my fault they are not doing well and are not able to find decent work. I should've made them go. Please finish school. It won't last forever.

Are you in high school, or college? If you're in high school, stick it out, you'll be done soon enough...If you're in college, taking a year off may be a good idea. If you're so unhappy that you feel like crying when you wake up to go to school (I felt the exact same way about an old job).... then take a year off, you can always go back.
It might be good to reconsider your major, if you've chosen one. Spend time working & think about what it is you really want to be doing as a career in your future. It makes sense to me to take the time off, to be sure that what you're studying is what you're really interested in, that it's what you want to be doing for the rest of your life, rather than suffering through school & stacking up student loans while you're studying something that obviously isn't making you happy.
If the depressed feelings continue and/or are related to more than school alone, make an app't with a psych professional to discuss those feelings. :)

You should share it with your mom. You can consult with a doctor too.

I too wanted a break from school (college) and stress so I took one. I always thought I would go back after a year. 16 years later I finally went back and it sucks worse going in my 30's. I highly recommend sticking it out. once you make an excuse to leave its hard to come up with an excuse to go back. however, that Is a decision you will have to make. maybe you could just cut your class load down and see if that helps.
