I think scientists have the capability to start a "zombie-like" apocalypse. I'm not talking about the rising dead. Science is incredible. Many things can happen. Scientists get curious and preform experiments, that could one day be an experiment. But I do not think that it will happen.
No. The body is a complete machine that needs all of its parts to function in order for the whole to function. The only thing that could be similar in reality would be a rabies-like pandemic, but rabies victims are short lived and are not mindless zombies.
Is a zombie possible? And I am not talking about becoming thoughtless as that's seen every day. A reanimated dead person? A virus that turns a human into a mindless brain-eating corpse that can't be stopped except by a headshot or burning? There isn't any such virus that can defy the laws of biology.
Under normal conditions, I'd say no. There are mind-altering nerve poisons that can mimic all but the "attack" element, and were the origins of the zombie myths. But those poor victims were generally docile and damaged, but not violent. . As for the movie and book versions, as entertaining as the attack scenarios are to mentally play with .. No. . Then again, whenever there's a major election coming up ... suddenly, I'm not so sure. O.o
