My friend had an MRI 2 days ago and is experiencing numbness and tingling in the thumb. Is that normal?

Report as

Actually if their thumb was close to the passing field of a MRI machine they would definitely feel a tingle when the magnet passes over the area. My hand tingled every time the MRI was on as it was against the side wall.

An MRI scan does not cause numbness or tingling of the thumb. Some of the side effects associated with an MRI include: headaches, dizziness, sweating, nausea ,fatigue and they are temporary.
