How do i convince my parents to get the game i want?

i want GTA 5. i asked my parents what they think about an M rated game. they said they would search it up and see if they would approve of it. That's why i wouldn't tell the name of the game because they would likely disagree to giving their teen daugther GTA 5. So how i can convince them without showing them the game?

Report as

Well, I honestly don't think you should be playing something like that. Its not good for a young mind to get corrupted by such things. It's not even a great game for decent adults to be playing, much less impressionable teens. I'm not trying to be mean but it would be really unhealthy for you to get it.

If they love you and they're good parents then there'd be nothing you could say to convince them to by you that garbage.

Why is it garbage? Have you even played it?
Report as
Yes, it's amazingly stupid.
Report as
You can't judge something if you haven't played it. I could just say Pulp Fiction is garbage because I heard it is extremely violent.
Report as
Did you notice the first word in my previous comment? YES, I've played GTA and it's absolutely retarded and so is anybody who plays it on a regular basis.
Report as
Which one did you play and why did you think it was "retarded"? You never answered why.
Report as
I don't know which version it was but it's stupid because all you do is walk around mugging people, there's no point to it, don't try to convince me that this idiotic sh1t makes any sense because it doesn't. Turn off the retarded video games and go outside and play. Or read a book, do something useful with your time.
Report as
First, anyone who uses the word retarded and must resort to using obscene words is clearly the "retarded" one here. Secondly, you must have only played only five minutes of the game (if you even have) because you have seemed to overlook the well written plot and intellectual satire presented in the game. The game is not a mugging simulator.
Report as
Anyways you can't just claim that I have bad video game habits from playing Grand Theft Auto, especially because you don't know me. Don't you have 25,000+ answered questions on Ask.com? Maybe you should be the one getting off the computer, playing outside or reading a book.
Report as
Well written plot? You've GOT to be kidding? If you're going to defend that crapola then yes, I'm sorry, but you'd have to be retarded, I know you don't like that word, but this game is phuqqing up your brain.

Yes, I have answered a lot of questions on Ask, over a time frame of about 3 years. I have 2 children so don't worry, I get plenty of exercise outside, but thanks for your concern.
Report as
I think your last statement has proven my point more clearly. I could not assume that you took care of two children just from looking at your profile. So it's fair to say that you could not completely understand me because I play a video game. You don't understand the AP classes I take, or the youth group I volunteer at, or the piano lessons I take, or the band that I play three instruments in, or my scouting career (It's all about the outdoors there). Grand Theft Auto is just a game that I play on the few occasions I have time to.
You might say that your experience of Grand Theft Auto painted an image for who I am, but could you list any of the above on a whim just from the information that I play Grand Theft Auto?
Report as
That's an impressive list ya got there :-)
Report as
I have to agree that the plots of the game post Grand Theft Auto IV have been pretty disastrous. You might have played GTA III (New York early 2000s), Vice City (Miami 1980s), or San Andreas (1990s Southern California). GTA IV (modern New York) and V (Modern Los Angles and suburbs) on the other hand improved on their storyline a presentation. If you remember which of these games you played, could you post it because it might give me a better idea of your experience with GTA.

Try telling them M stands for Minor, not Mature.

Well, be honest and tell them that it's GTA 5. Then, tell them the goods and benefits of the game... o_o If You Can Find Any...

You can't really tell benefits, but you can tell why you are mature enough
Report as
There is no maturity for someone who is not 17 or older if they this game. If they want it, they need to wait until they are 17.

Just tell them all of the "Good" things about it lol. Instead of saying "You can kill cops", say "You can become a cop". Say it's rated M because the people you "Arrest" sometimes do bad things such as inappropriate language or just make something up. They haven't found out what the game is so just make something up. That's what I did to get my GTA 5. I said you can become a cop and arrest people. honestly no joke, and my parents believed it and got me the game. P.S. best game story wise, and graphics wise ever.

Parents arent fools you know. Im
middle aged an i know exactly what the game is about. It would never be allowed in my house.
Report as
Don't try to trick your parents into getting it, because one way or another your parents will find out that it's a crime simulator.
Report as
That game is not good for a kid. If you try to trick the parents, they will find out and then take your game system away.

If your parents are good parents and stick to their guns then you cant. I would never allow my child to have a game or movie i hadnt reviewed and knew nothing about. And you are correct in that, if they are good parents, they wont let you have GTA. You SHOULDNT have it if you are under age. Certainly the fact that you refuse to tell them the name of it has already clued them into the fact that its not a game theyll approve of - dontcha think? In the arrogance of youth you think theyre clueless but i can promise you they are smarter than you think. If you were my child youd never see that game in my house, not even if you were 18.

Tell them the truth and my friend said at the midnight release, there were 3 cop cars and one cop was in the front of the line getting the game! hahaha

Tell them the truth is one thing but telling them that one cop was in front of the line getting the game is not good because cops don't play games like that.

GTA 5 is intended for Mature people, it has a lot of things within the game not suited for anyone under the age restriction. I have been playing it and i can easily see why it has the Mature rating, its not like all the others that had it and never knew why.

How old are you? You should be at least 15 before even considering asking. Also, how do you intend to play it? If you just want to explore the world, maybe get into a police chase or two, then it might be a little easier to ask for it (I know a lot of good people who play GTA for this type of gameplay). Also, what's your history with violent games? What's the most violent game you have played? Answer these questions and I might be able to give you more details on how to (or not to) ask for it.

Another question, out of all the mature parts of GTA V, what aspect is your mother most concerned about?
Report as
Another tip: You may want to play a milder M rated game before playing the big bad one. Start with Call of Duty or Battlefield (generally parents accept military shooters for teens) and show your parents that you can handle M rated violence. Also make sure to be on your best behavior, but don't make it look like your acting out of character for an M game.
Report as
Sorry it looks like Ask deleted my first comment. I'll post an explanation for why the game is not terrible soon.
Report as
Repost: At least you fit the first two criteria. It seems like you have a good intentions for playing the game, loads of people play GTA just for this. Tell your mother how you want to play the game and show her some gameplay footage of a person free-roaming (check the footage beforehand)
Report as
Also, sex and drugs are not required. The str1p clubs are extremely hard to find and are never required to enter. Same goes with the drug dealers. You never benefit from these acts either, so you aren't encouraged to go.

easter. Easter! What is wrong with you. Easter is not a holiday to give presents out except Money and candy. But no, you want this kid to be a killer or a criminal because there was an eight year old kid shot his grandmother three months ago because of GTA games. They are not trialing him for the murder because he is below the age.

The best you can do is be honest with them. There is no Scientific data to suggest that games have any greater effect on the human mind than that of a book. The appropriateness of a specific game for a specific person relies entirely on the maturity of the individual in question. If you understand the difference between right and wrong and can discern the line between reality and fantasy than there is no danger in any form of media (excluding something that would be considered traumatic of course). If they have doubts have them talk to a sales clerk at your local game store about the specifics of the game.
