What is fun toy that I can make for my cat from things I can find in my home?

My cat gets bored of the same toys pretty quickly, so I don't like to buy them from stores. It would end up being pretty expensive to keep her entertained. She is pretty particular about the toys she plays with and does not really like to play with ball shaped toys. I don't like it when she plays with yarn either because she always eats the yarn. Any ideas of what I can buy or make?

roll up a ball of tinfoil. or make own catnip toy. Can buy loose catnip at pet store and just sew it into old cloth you have at home.

All you need is a long piece of string. Quick and easy. You can tie anything onto the end (preferably something soft-ish in case the cat bites it.) like: Scrunched up paper, fabric, loosely knotted wool, a small toy maybe (you could even roll it in the cat's biscuits to get the smell on it). If you get tired of dragging the homemade toy everywhere, tie it up somewhere, where it is just above the ground, dangling, and so the cat can still easily reach it. But don't shove it in your cat's face too much, or it will join the pile of other toys it's now bored of.

I think the stick and spider is a good idea.
Get any kind of light fluffy thing and put in on a string, also small dust cleaners cats love.

"What could be better than a dollar on a string" :D, or anything on a string even a tea bag works... anything that has legs and that can move and that makes noise on a string works too.

I have always found a pipe cleaner is great fun. Just coil it around your little finger & drop it on the ground
....it's easy to bat around! My cats have always loved them & they are so inexpensive!!

Get a cleaning rod, and tie a shoe lace around the end, in fact you can just use the rod (they go crazy over the damn thing)

all you need is an old sock, catnip, and uncooked rice Here's what you do:1. Make sure you have a sock that no one wants to
wear anymore but that doesn?t have holes in it.
2. Put some catnip in the sock and push it down to
the toe. If you want to use less catnip, put the
uncooked rice in the toe of the sock together with the
catnip. That makes the toy bigger without making the
catnip too strong for your cat.
3. Tie a knot in the sock just above where the catnip
is. Make sure you pull it tight so nothing falls out.
4. Give it to your cat and see what she does! Go,
kitty, go!

Both of my cats love batting around ordinary gift bows - like the type you can buy cheap by the bag. I found that out years ago when they kept stealing them off the Christmas presents.
They're lightweight and easily "fly". Sometimes they even unravel them, but they won't really chew on or eat them like a dog might. My cats also get bored with their regular toys - but the bows never seem to lose their attraction.

especially at Christmas i crumple up Christmas wrap, ribbon, bows and put it into a cereal box (with the plastic out) take the opening sides off and wrap the box, tie ribbon, or put a bow on it. poke a small hole where the opening is and watch the cat figure it all out. My cat goes nuts and scratches it all up and drags all the stuff out of the box to play with. I've also put pipe cleaner, toilet paper rolls, foil, and those craft fuzz balls (i put catnip spray on them), put in an empty box..I use the cereal box because they are convenient.
