Can someone give me advice for quitting smoking? im trying but every time I try my brain just over rides the logic in trying, then the cig

Report as

Heres the steps I would suggest as I was a smoker for 20 years.
First use the strongest patch you can buy and chew the hell outta some gum. It does work. Second follow the steps from the strongest patch to the weakest. ANY INHIBITORS QUIT. Example for me was coffee, soda, alcohol.
Now if you are a drinker buy the "Ecigerettes" they really help a lot, but not initially. Get used to the patch for at least a month before you go to the Ecigs, I prefer the "Blu cigs" they're strong and have a good taste to them.
Oh the last step, MAKE YOURSELF DO THIS. I promise you will "look" better, feel wonderful and now you can live a lot longer.

Go "cold turkey". One's body will excrete the nicotine within 48 - 72 hours of cessation of the habit. How much one smokes is called tolerance. The urge to smoke is the addiction which is mental, between the ears. Give yourself twenty - one days to form a new healthy habit. Each day without a cigarette will create a stronger mindset on which to build upon.
Doable. Used to smoke 2 - 3 packs a day, way back in the past. Safe Journey

Cold Turkey doesn't work for everyone.

then that dream that you started smoking again and when you wake up and think well hell i already smoked i may as well smoke another. happens to me like 2months after the last butt

*ForAmericans They either didn't give it enough time or did not replace smoking with a healthier habit. It is important the habit of smoking is replaced nor ignored.
Safe Journey

*gerardd Been there done that. Honestly, after quitting for two months, did the cigarette taste near as good as the one in your dream or between your ears? Doubtful. Safe Journey

@howlinwolf, if that's what you meant to refer to then, yes. But plain and simple "cold turkey" isn't realistic. I know because I myself have a "addictive" personality (if that's what you call it...) and cold turkey isn't realistic.

*ForAmericans One must replace the old habit with new healthy habits. As you stated in your commentary above. Safe Journey

Go run around your block then try to breathe out from a straw. Now try that with a coffee straw. Once you have the feel of that. Go look up COPD. Stop while you're still able to breathe n do your normal activities. Remember your lung cannot regenerate itself once its damage. Wheezing is not a pleasant sound. I know it's hard but slowly knock off the habit before you regret it.

My mom counted up the number of cigarettes she smoked a day. Then she would take one out of that number each day. She didn't miss one each day. She got down to three a day and was able to quit slowly.
