Aside from medications your doctor can prescribe, you can try an over-the-counter migraine reliever. These sometimes work for me. I also found some of the natural tips at the bottom of this article helpful -- http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/08/22/migraine-causes.aspx The compresses, massage and cayenne have helped me. I hope you feel better.

HEY there, Shooshie! Long time no see.... still my favorite mod, wish you'd been on when the unthinkable happened -- I had an answer removed!! (???)
When I asked a Q to find out why it was removed, my Q was removed! >:|
Don't think I've EVER had an answer removed, still don't know what was wrong with it... but as you can see... it's not bothering me at all... ha! ;)

Hope you have been well ! Dang Meniere's has been really bothering me the last couple of days. Funny how I feel OK in the morning, but rapidly goes downhill after that!

Aww AllBangedUp. :( Holler at Eric if you'd like to know more. We generally remove the "why was my answer removed" questions and email the person so the site isn't flooded with them and Eric can review the content giving the person details. You don't seem bothered at all. :P

Oh Mr. I am sorry to hear that. I have been having a terrible bout with the dizzies the past couple weeks. Seems to come in waves and yes mornings are usually better. Hope we don't stumble into one another. :P

I know that one well, Shooshie !

Thank you, Shooshie!
Haven't checked that email account... yet. Just shocked me as my answers are always more than "appropriate"...not to mention, they're just downright astounding... hehe, thanks again... :D

In Germany, a recognized natural way to cut your migraines by 70% comes from eating a few leaves from the feverfew plant everyday http://www.migrainetrust.org/factsheet-feverfew-and-migraine-10904

I like to get rid of migraines the natural way, I usually put on a sounds of a rainforest CD (there are others) And I lay down on my bed with a pillow and sit there for about 2 hours or so, and it goes away, migraines are very painful, i have only had 2 or 3 in my life time

I get them a lot myself. Pain meds, quiet room, ice bag on your head and sleep.

You can try this, it works for me:
Take Tylenol (or aspirin or ibuprofen, if your stomach isn't hurt by them), along with a cup of coffee or tea. The caffeine helps pain relievers work better.
While you're drinking your coffee/tea, put a wet wash cloth in the freezer. When it's frozen/really cold, take it out & lie down, flat on your back, in a quiet & dark room; put the cold cloth over your forehead & eyes. Lie there, just keep very still for a while.
If your headache doesn't get better, and if you're able to -- take a nap. Sometimes, sleep is the only way I can get rid of a really nasty headache/migraine.
Give it a try, feel better. :)

Wish it worked for my Meniere's disease . Nothing helps but drugs that knock me out !
Report as
What do they prescribe for that..?
I'm not that familiar with Meniere's, only super-basic stuff. :)

Valium and Promethazine. Put's me out ! I'm pretty good in the early morning but as the day goes on, it get's worse. Nasty uncurable disease of the inner ear.
Report as
Yeah, I knew about the inner ear, the dizziness... that's 'bout it.
Valium can make you sleepy if you're not used to it... Promethazine... hmm, don't know...

Doc gave me Neurontin for nerve pain. It helps some of my really weird pains, in both legs & knees -- the sharp pains that seem to "jump" all over my legs when I try to sleep.
Helps me e eat ice cream, too!! My teeth would ache for hours after eating ice cream -- ha, no long -- been eating ice cream every day w/ no pain, loving it it!!
Aside from that, doesn't do much, doesn't help my joint pain or other hip/leg stuff.
Taken during the day, makes me so "dumb," it really does. Not sleepy, not dizzy.... just... umm... duh... can't think very well/cleary. I read that it has earned nickname "MORON-tin" for this side effect. Clever name & I totally agree! O:o

Seems to make my typos a lot worse, too.... ;)

I know about that! One of the reasons I'm not usually on here in the evenings !

Take an extra strength pain reliever and go lie down. Lie down in a quiet, cozy place and block out any bright light by closing the blinds, shades, curtains, draperies, or whatever. Put something lightweight over your eyes, also, to block out light. Tell fellow human beings that you need to be left alone in peace and quiet to get rid of your migraine. Rest in dark silence and let the pain medication do it's job.

New research is pointing to "brain freeze" as a good way to get rid of migraines. People tried eating something super cold like ice cream and when the brain freeze stopped, the migraine was gone (or shortly thereafter)
It's worth a try
