How do you do empirical and molecular formulas?

like: 0.638 mole Ba(CN)2 to grams?

Report as

The molar mass of barium * .638
the molar mass of carbon * .638 * 2
the molar mass of nitrogen * .638 * 2

Add them all up, and that is the mass in grams.

I'm impressed. I always click on the math and chemistry questions; not to answer them mind you, but in hopes I'll learn a little something

If you have a problem solving for the empirical and molecular formula, check out some pointers on www.chem.tamu.edu/class/majors/tutorialnotefiles/empirical.htm. You should also talk to your chemistry teacher because some things might need some explaining to understand.
