According to Wikipedia, yes, you can get leprosy from eating armadillo meat or handling an infected armadillo. Today, leprosy is a treatable condition. It's also pretty hard to contract. I wouldn't eat the meat, but if you were to come into contact with an armadillo, keeping your hands away from your face and washing them really well should suffice to protect you. If for some reason you did eat an armadillo, schedule an appointment with your doctor and see what is recommended.
