What does word "cast" in the following sentence mean?

"Cast" used as a wrap to protect a limb. usually used when a bone is fractured or broken to let it heal.

When you have ur leg in a cast, its maybe broken and ur in a hospital, ur leg is bandaged and held up to orevent movement.

I understand. I really wasn't trying to e rude, I know there's no way to say that without it come across as rude, but I still had to ask.
