Time to upgrade your home security. A dream could pick up information your subconscious noticed, so it could be based on real-life clues that a break-in is likely. Also, some people really do have a gift for sensing what is coming in the future. Perhaps you are one of them. Make sure your entrances are well-lit at night. Install double-lock deadbolts on all exterior doors. Consider going with a home burglar alarm company. Put a sawed-off broom handle in the track of any sliding glass door to prevent opening. Change the locks on your doors if anyone else has ever had access to your key (e.g., apartment or ex). Windows can be secured by drilling a horizontal hole through the upper portion of the bottom sash and continue partway through the next sash. Insert a long nail, which you can easily pull out if you want to open the window. Plant thorny bushes under your windows or around any posts someone could climb to access your upstairs. Barberry or roses are favorites. Cut back overgrown greenery that would allow anyone to hide next to your house or break in unobserved. Befriend your neighbors, and ask them to watch the house when you plan to be gone. Good luck!
If you can afford it, get a security system for your home. If you don't have deadbolt locks on your doors, and good locks on your windows, hire a locksmith to supply and install them. Do NOT even think of buying a weapon--many homeowners wind up being killed with their own guns.
