They usually will close up and it can take years to open up again in fear that they will be hurt again. But in some cases a woman will open up immediately because they become so insecure that they need that person to be with them and comfort them in some way even if it's for the worse.

Every person is different... but in most cases they won't open up about being abused. They might be afraid of men after they get away and might not date. Or they might jump into a relationship right after with a man with very similar traits to the last because that's what they know. They get conformable with abusive relationships and so they subconsciously continue to get into them.
If you suspect someone is being abused, make sure that you don't call them out on it. Just let them know that you are there for them and hope that they come to you with it and ask for help.
Most physically abused women will try to hide their emotions or they will not talk about their experiences. They usually live with fear and it may take time for them to open up and trust a new man. These kind of women are affected psychological and most of them end up seeing all men are abusive.
