Sleep talking and getting physical without knowing?

So, apparently from what my parents and friends say is I talk to them in my sleep and will grab them or hit them. From what they have said is they would try to wake me up and i would end up either grabbing their arm if they try to shake me or I will tell them to go away. My friends have even said they are able to start conversations with me while I am sleeping. The thing is, when i finally get up in the morning I have no memory of this ever happening. Is this normal? Is there a way to get rid of this? Thanks.

LOL it's normal. I used to talk all the time in my sleep, and have had full conversations with my bf until I realized he's asleep and saying very odd things. xD

But your family needs to leave you alone when you're sleep-talking. There's no reason to wake you and it's their attempts at waking that cause the physicality. If you're not in danger, you should be let alone.

Yes it is normal. There are some people who sleep walk, get up and eat in the night and like you talk. I work with a guy who has driven his car asleep.

I have done similar things, and there really isn't a way to help it, you're unconscious. I grew out of the habit with time- here's to hoping you will do the same! Good luck, friend! :)

My dad used to sleep talk a lot and we just ignored him. Sometimes he would have violent nightmares and get into fights in his sleep. We kept away from him at such times. It is a bit scary when you think that the person might do something dangerous like go outside, and walk around. I read about a woman who took a long walk outside in the middle of the night, went to a park. Fortunately, someone rescued her, called the police and she was taken back home. There are some medical people who help those with sleep problems.
