Is it possible for someone to come to you in a dream?

So my grandmother had passed away a year or so ago..But before she did she always promised to come back to us somehow one last time as her mother did for her..And im talking about years upon years of promising..And a few months after she passed, I had a dream that she was at my house while my parents had a Christmas party! She was always in charge of the holiday parties, so it made sense, right? And in the dream I totally acknowledged she was dead, I even cried, and I felt her hugging me and i /heard/ her voice...And I've always questioned weather or not she really could have came back and said bye..

Dear hiiimlexi,
For me, there is no doubt whatsoever that the answer to your question is yes, it is possible for your grandmother to come to you in a dream. What you describe - I would not even call that truly a dream, it was an experience in the night.

I am 69 years old, and similar experiences have happened with me...for example, once a dear friend came in my prayers every day for ten days or so after his death, just to show me what it was like and that life was very beautiful for him now.

I think this lifting of that veil of death is a very special gift made possible by the Holy Spirit and perhaps other Divine Teachers...they are helping the soul finish up beloved connections before moving on. That is just the infinite Love of the Divine...helping your grandmother to keep her word to you.

People in dreams are usually placeholders and their actions for you and any recent activity in your life.

In this case I would say, it was you and your subconscious (still in mourning) letting that mourning process end. It was not your grandmother saying goodbye to you, but you having that final good bye to your grandmother.

I suspect you felt really whole and complete when you woke up the next morning.

I had actually really gotten over it afterwards, not saying I was instantly and completely over it, but I felt better about it.

No. If you believe in the Bible it is not possible.

There's no way of knowing for sure. It's not unusual to have dreams with dead relatives in them. I have them every once in a while. Another point worth noting is that your grandmother told you repeatedly that she would come back somehow just as her mom did. She planted that thought in your mind and reinforced it many times. This could have helped produce the dream.

Dreams I have with my dead parents in them have always been nice. I hope yours was, too.

Love these types of dreams. But to me they are only that, but still love a hug from my nan and granddad, and im always aware that they have died. You are what they call a lucid dreamer.
