With the government shutdown, if hurricane Karen hits NOLA (New Orleans), does that mean FEMA is also "shutdown"?

I suspect they will be made exempt. but they are shut down at the present time. However, there's no way that Obama will let a major disaster hit and not do anything. He'll be called Bush if he does that.

Doesn't matter either way ... FEMA is pretty much worthless to the average person.

Yup, plus they were charging $10 a box for laughably tiny boxes of laundry sops to those after hurricane Katrina. They tried to deny it but a friend of mine wound up having to pay nearly $400 one day- ONE DAY- for laundry soap, a 6pack of bottled water, 3 pairs of shoes, and a room literally the size of a closet in a trailer that 8 other families were staying in. FEMA disgusts me.

FEMA won't keep people from dying or getting sick in an emergency. It's best to care for self as much as possible, whatever gov't can do.

FEMA has already started calling workers back to deal with Hurricane Karen.
