Murder comes in various "degrees". If you planned the murder - (called pre-meditated) - you're looking at life on prison or the death penalty, depending on what State you did the deed in. Second degree murder, where you killed someone intentionally, but didn't plan it (this excludes self-defense), you'll get a lessor sentence - but depending on the State and the judge / jury recommendations or rulings, that will most likely a huge portion of your life behind bars. I'm not sure what you're referring to by the drug reference. You may want to re-word the question.
