How can I convince my mother to let me join the US Navy?

I am only 14 and if I want to join when I'm 18, I need my parents consent, my dad is completely on board with my decision basically because he was in the Navy too, and she keeps on saying that the military changed my dad which was the reason why they divorced. I NEEDZ HELPZ!!!! DX

Actually once you are 18 you do not need your parent's consent. Consent is only needed if you wish to join at 17.Once you are 18 you are an adult and can make these decisions for yourself.

Are you just wanting your mothers approval? You have 4 years to think about that. As Deana said, once you're 18 you need no ones concent.

Yes, I know how frustrating that is. my dad way a police officer and he was shot and killed. i want to become a cop myself but my mom won't let me. however, your parents have no control over you after you are 18.

You don't need parent's consent. Are you talking about taking ROTC in preparation? I don't know if you need consent for that, but it would be something you could do now.

Once your 18 you can join and don't need the okay from mom and dad. Once your a jr in hs recruits will start talking to you and tell you what all you need to do to join.

You've got 4 years till then. Don't stress. If you still want it in 4 years chances are you'll get it.

The good news is when you're 18 you're an adult and it's entirely up to you. You won't need anyone's permission to join. I would suggest in a couple of years to speak to a Navy recruiter, if your parents won't let you wait until you're 18. I also suggest if you could somehow find some people who are currently in the Navy or recently have been, speak with them and ask them questions. The problem with recruiters are they lie, withhold information and tell you what you want to hear.
