Is this a weird job for a 14 year old girl to dream of having?

I'm a 14 year old girl and for the past year or so I have dreamed (not like dreaming in my sleep lol) of having a job where I can work with abused children. I don't know why I'm so in to this kind of stuff but I just am. is this a weird job to want when I'm older? if so why? if not what kind of jobs like that are out there?

That's not weird at all Hun! You get to help out/ counsel kids who have really gone through a lot, it's a great mindset... You can make a big difference in someone's life, keep dreaming and reach your goal! Good luck

No that's really sweet. I'm glad you feel this way. You can volunteer at Peace House or become a foster parent, but I don't know of any paying jobs. Don't let that discourage you, I'm sure a job exists I just don't know it.

Faith in humanity restored.

No it is not weird. I'm in High School and a lot of people want to have that job. The only problem with it is that you might have a hard time making that into a full time job. That sounds more like a weekend free time thing to me

No its not. If u need help finding ideas then take a career exploration class or go to azcis (or simular websites) and see what jobs fall under that category :)

That's called Social Work. You need a tough skin but it can be very rewarding. Good luck:)

Thanks but the only problem with this is I'm a shy quiet kinda person but maybe that will change.

I don't understand what being a shy girl has to do with this kind of career. I don't see that as a problem, you will gain confidence as you get older. You might try volunteering at a womens shelter or children's home to get some exposure to this kind of job.

A kid therapist or there was a lady i don't know what her job is called but she use to have little interview like things With my brothers and i and we had our own lawyers i was only 8 it was my parents divorce but she basically listened tp us and told what we said to our lawyers and gave us toys and told us if we ever needed anything to call her or if mommy and daddy fought or were abusive then she'd give us a card with her number on it. Now that i think about it she is an evil lady because she just tried getting my parents in trouble by using me to tell her things even tho both my parents NEVER abused me but you can do what she does

When you get to collage (and you will have to to work with these children), you want to study either psychology or social work. And you will want to go for, at least, a masters. Those are future goals. For now, I am sure there are groups in your area that you can do volunteer work for. But more important now is getting the best education you can so you can get into the best collages working to train therapists and social workers.

Glad I could help. Good luck, and I hope you can find that job. There are a lot of kids out there who need help. With you working with them, I am sure they will do well.

Awe thanks. Hopefully I'll find that job but from what I've been hearing its hard to find a job like that.
