Why do some cultures use their left hand to wipe?

these cultures that practice this are very poor and cannot afford to even have toilet paper shipped to their stores. They use their left hand because the general population is right handed and they all use their right hand for everything that they do except wipe. it is even considered disrespectful and in some places a crime to eat with your left hand and even sometimes write with it.
