Yes, hemp can be used for a multitude of things (apart of smoking it) - for many centuries it has been used to make strings and ropes, and for making fabrics like canvas and sacks. It also can be used to make paper and cardboard, and oil from the seeds. Modern processing even managed to make jeans and t-shirts from it, without them being itchy. The best is, it grows like hell and doesn't even need insecticides to protect it. In other words, the industry will do its utmost to prevent that it ever gets produced in large amount, because its a profit killer.
