how do you pray to god

Report as

Jesus explained, But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

you can pray a memorized prayer, such as the our father or the hail mary, or you can just talk to him, i do that sometimes, works better in my opinion, but everyone is different we all have our ways of communicating with god- i know that doesn't explain much but i hope it helped, few suggestions from a catholic view...

I'm atheist but I assume it is like "Jesus, I sure would appreciate some help for my friends, their little girl is sick and they mean the world to me. Please guide them and help them through this rough time. Amen ".

I assume dear god I want to pick the correct lottery numbers and if you help me win the mega millions I promise never to use your name in vain again. Is not correct.

Praying is just talking to Him. Anywhere, anytime. Eyes open or closed. Sitting, standing, kneeling. Doesnt matter. All that matters is that its from the heart. I talk with Him often while driving.

You should consult whatever catechism(s) your church body subscribes to if you really want detailed instruction on prayer.

***** Say "In the name of Jesus, Lord hear my prayer...." and just talk to Him. Tell Him what you're grateful for, things you need help with and ask forgiveness on things you did wrong. The important thing is that you do and through Jesus, not what you say. Practice, anything from the heart He loves :)
Many blessings. *****

You speak from the heart.

We communicate to God through our spirit and by the Holy Spirit which is abiding with us thanks to the promise of Christ Jesus.

We pray in truth and in faith.

The Muslim observes his Prayers to show devotion and obedience to Allah, because Prayer is one of the greatest forms of worship that Allah likes His servants to offer.
To thank Him for creating us in the best form of creation.
Because He has guided us to the Complete way of Life, Religion of Islam.
Prayer is a chance for a Muslim to express to his Lord whatever he feels and needs through Divine Words of Allah i.e. the Qur'an.
To remember his Lord and not forget His commands amid life's pre-occupations.
To ask Allah, The Exalted, to give him aid and continuous guidance in the darkness of life.
To strengthen love and fear of Allah in the Muslim's heart so that he might remain sticking to the Right Path of Islam, and its laws and manners.
Gaining good rewards from Allah and having our sins forgiven.
To rejoice when he finds himself on the Last Day pleased with the great reward allotted to him in the Gardens of Bliss.
Prayer is a unique training and developmental program which, if well and devotedly performed, can achieve for Muslims many valuable physical, ethical and spiritual gains such as cleanliness, health, order, punctuality, brotherhood, equality, social consolidation,...etc.

Dear dear God, may I say yes to you today...
May I always say yes to you, and may I say yes to you today.

or,
La illaha il Allah...

or,
Om mani padme hum

or,
May the Sacred Heart of hearts
be known throughout creation,
in wisdom, love, and understanding.

or,
May all beings be well and happy.
May all beings be free from suffering,
and free from the causes of suffering.

These are some of the prayers I often pray.

Talk to God like you would an intimate friend. Jesus said if you abide in him and if you continue in the word, you are a friend and a true disciple. See John 15:1-16. Pray to God in the name of Jesus. Say "In the name of Jesus, Amen" at the end of the prayer. Read some Scriptures on prayer to understand it better. Phil. 4:6-7, Luke 18:1-8, James 5:13-18, Eph. 6:18, Heb. 13:3, Mark 11:22-24, Isaiah 55:6-9, I John 1:9; 3:22; 5:14-15.

We should always try to make Jehovah God REAL to us. Why not try talking to Him? Talk to Him like you would a friend. Just talk. Praying out loud sometimes will definitely help. This link will help you find the appropriate way to pray to God:

Hope I helped!

Make your life a prayer and think of God in the morning and talk to him. Have your thoughts tuned to loving as much as possible and try tobe a blessing to others. Praise his holy holy name, attend Mass, and read scripture. When you open your heart to Jesus he hears you and blesses you with his grace.I recommend Mother Theresa of Calcutta's healing novena called "Jesus My all in All" found online.

I humble myself and freely express my thoughts, concerns, and innermost feelings respectfully. The Scriptures direct us to offer our prayers through Jesus. He himself said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) For our prayers to be heard, we must pray only to Jehovah through his Son.

Jesus left us a model prayer found at Matthew 6:9-13. In this prayer he showed just some of the things that we can pray for. The first few things having to do with Gods name being sanctified, His Kingdom coming, and His will taking place. In that scripture verse 7 gives us a word of caution that we not say the same things over and over again. So while our prayers would usually include personal things that maybe going on in our life at that time things that we may need direction in, God's name and purpose should be given priority. We also want to pray for others like family and friends (James 5:16)

best thing is knowing His desires...you would wanna pray for what's good, thing is, you don't always know what's the best thing. So the gift of tongues/intercession or praying for things/people/events and places is exceptional here. When you don't know what to pray, tongues or the Spirit praying with you releases fragrances that can be literally smelt, passion and creativity. You'll notice impartations of the miraculous, healings etc, because when God prays through you, then you can't lose...besides the fact, He places the mantles or the desires of His heart on you and when you pray in tongues, the devil is bound, making it all the more easier for you to enjoy your possibilities. God bless and please, if you'd love to talk, I have a facebook!
