Help! I'm worried about my immune system!

I had a really bad anxiety disorder and never left my house or went to school last year but I just recently moved into a college dorm the kind where you share a bathroom with the whole floor ect. and now I'm starting to feel really sick and am concerned that my immune system won't be prepared should I be worried?

You could be sick from anything really and by that i mean its probably just a cold or something. Whats really acting up is your anxiety which i completely understand because i have anxiety disorder as well and when one little thing goes wrong with my health i go into panic and always think about the worst scenario. Im sure theres nothing wrong with your immune system and that its probably just the anxiety and being worried. Just in case though, i would pay attention to how your feeling and if your still sick and getting worse by a week then i would see a doctor. Until then stay calm because im sure its nothing really. Good luck! :)

I think you are feeling sick mostly because you are worrying yourself sick. Intense worry about illness can even produce the physical symptoms of illness when you aren't sick at all. Get yourself a check up, to clear your mind, then start living your life. Being out among people and the social world will actually strengthen your immune system. Hiding away to avoid exposure to "germs" weakens it; it has nothing to do, so it does nothing.

Your immune system is fine. If you're getting sick, your immune system has not been compromised so that it is unable to respond. You'll go through the stages of a cold like anyone else.

If you practice good hygiene in the college dorm, you'll be fine. I kept a bottle of hand sanitizer in my room, and wore flipflops in the shower. Also had a container of the Clorox wipes to keep the dorm room clean. The cleaning staff cleaned all the surfaces in the communal rooms every day. They probably do in your dorm too.

Get some vitamin C and start taking it to boost your body's systems. It really does help.
