What can I do about my dogs eye infection?

my dog has an eye infection (it's yellow mucus coming out of his eye) and now he has a hard to time keeping it open. what should I do because my parents refuse to take him to the vet and every time I mention it they yelled at me saying we have bigger problems. my dog is due to go to the vet for shots in two weeks but there's a 50/50 chance my dad will take him. please help me :(

He does need to go to the vet, but as a temporary help, you can rinse his eye with sterile saline solution. It comes in a bottle and you can find it in the eye care, contact lens cleaner isle at any grocery store. Make sure you use saline solution not the multi care solution. Also, using a clean, damp, warm washcloth or paper towel, wipe the gunk away from his eye. Make sure as you are wiping or rinsing, that you go towards the outside of the eye. That way you won't drip anything into his good eye and contaminate it. Make sure he gets to the vet ASAP. He can get his shots early if that will get your parents to take him to the vet.

Well he needs to get to a vet, I'm very hesitant on giving you a direct answer as this is not a D.i.Y situation. Animals are just like humans and if you where having yellow mucus coming out of your eye would you trust some one off ask.com for help?
You can file an anonymous report of animal abuse here - http://www.peta.org/about/contact-peta/report-cruelty.aspx

I would actually consider talking to your parents more about it though, hint at the possibility of Animal Abuse as well.
Best of Luck with your furry friend, I hope he gets help
