I have a WEIRD question to ask...Why are many things on this planet round for example, planets, some fruit, our body parts, and our heads.

God likes round things I guess.

I am having a tough time thinking of a perfectly round critter other than bacteria. However, round things provide the most content for the least surface area, an advantage if you're trying to avoid environmental exposure.

I had to reread the last part of what you just wrote a couple of times to understand..lol

Gravity pulls uniformly in all spatial directions (all else being equal). The more matter an object attracts, the stronger the gravitational pull towards its center becomes. A sphere is the natural outcome of such a situation; deviations from roundness must muster the non-gravitational forces to withstand the force of gravity pulling downward.http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100221045227AAT9Tl6

Thanks! strawberrygirl this was a good explanation.

Idk. I call that a matrix question

It does seem like that doesn't it.

simple answer, it was due to balance and equal forces. Look at the bubbles, what made it round is the equal forces from inside the bubbles and outside the bubbles.

in outer space, there is no molecules of air right?

the gravitational force of the earth attracts all the air from the space which formed atmosphere of the earth and the equal force which attracts the earth atmosphere causing it to become round.

to further understand this just observe the bubbles and you will see that it is due to equal forces from outside and inside.

lol...thanks for the bubble example!

it's all in the gravity

Great question. I don't have an answer but, how cool would it be if tomatoes, apples, oranges, etc were square. They would be much easier to package and ship and a whole lot easier to slice.

Report as
Somewhere in Japan they grow square watermelons...I don't know how they make them that shape though. It would be cool but I like them just how they are..lol

I wonder if the square watermelons have square seeds?

Square pepperoni on a round pizza, hmmmm.
Report as
No, I don't think the seeds are squared. I think they just mold it that was I don't know how. yeah pepperoni is good no matter what shape..lol
Report as
mold it that way.

God made the Universe with some laws: Law of relativity, law of quantum mechanics, and the reason why so many things are round is the law of standard model

Report as

Because its no fun being square.

"It's hip to be square".

***** Planets are round because they spin and have debris whipping at them for so long. It's the theory of erosivation. People have round heads because if they were square the corners wouldn't fit neatly in your cap or on your pillow. The square side of your head and body might catch onto things when rounding a corner instead of rolling off. That would be dangerous. The reasons our eyes are round is because square eyes would not fit into the sockets right.
Hmmm...fruit! Fruit is round because..
Obviously no one has the answer to this question. God made things the way He did because He did. :) *****

I thought about this before. I'm not sure but there is the circle of life as well things die biodegrade in the ground, they fertilize the soil, the soil is ripe for plants and do completes the cycle or circle of life. I said in another question, that I thought it was Einstein who tried to say we live the same life over and over, which is why we have de ja vu or dreams that come true after we dream them.

It seems to be some sign of the cycle of how life works. It never ends and never begins.

I didn't really answered your question but I hoped I helped you expand and formulate your own opinion.
