My mom said I have to go in to get some blood labwork drawn/done? What do they do?

I'm freaking out because I have a phobia of hospital bulidings and I hate doctors. What are they going to do and how painful is it?

Do not feel bad. I am the biggest chicken you will ever come across when it comes to needles and drs offices. I am a well grown adult also. I can tell you truthfully from someone who has the same fear as you do but who is a lot older..... it is NEVER as bad as you are afraid it will be. :0)
Good luck Sweetheart and think of all the things blood can tell about our bodies and our health. I personally am thankful we have come so far as to know so much about our bodies heath with just a blood test. (It still don't take away the anxiety of the needle part but I hope it helps a little to know you are not alone. :0)

Why would you hate doctors? They save people's lives everyday. That's ridiculous.

I was in a car accident when i was four and ive had to go through 16 of my dads surgeries and I get scared when I enter hospitals. I should rephrase that I don't hate doctors I just don't like the feel of hospitals. Doctors saved my dad I'm very grateful for that.

It is ridiculous. Being afraid is not. But hating them is.

Depends on what blood work meeds to be done: one is a small prick on a finger (check for blood glucose) or sticking you at your brachial vein- located in the crease of your elbow. Ask if they could use a butterfly syringe on you instead of a straight needle. It would also be good to grip something in your hand as well. The needle stick itself hurts less than a bee sting. Unless they are getting multiple tubes of blood, it will be over before you know it.
